So I've got a buddy at work who' s been smoking 40+ years, he's interested in switching to vaping but I know if its too difficult he won't stop, he's tried and ego but it didn't even come close for him, I recently had him try my new mech with a kayfun and he seemed very happy with the hit off of that and asked if I would basically figure out a setup for him. Now I know the mvp2 is probably the most recommended device but I was thinking for the price he could just get a DNA30 clone for a little more and have all the power he needs with all the built in protections and just get himself a protank or similar, or I would build him coils for a kayfun if he didn't like the bcc. And a extra battery and maybe a single charger for a back up but otherwise with those devices it seems like it should be plug and play.I have no experience with DNA30 devices so I was wondering everyones opinions?

Edit- not just with devices but setups in general , tanks ,devices, best cig flavored juice, etc.
Thanks

There is no device on the market which is completely trouble free. Since your friend has already tried an eGo and was disappointed, perhaps it would be appropriate to go for a bigger gun. I don't generally recommend a Provari to a novice, but from my experience the best combo with the least potential issues would be a Provari and a Kayfun. Once you spend 10 minutes going thru the Provari's single button menu, it will be a reliable & dependable battery device for years to come.

The Kayfun and Provari are a match made in heaven. The KFL+ will have a slight learning curve, with the most difficult part being learning to wrap coils (not that difficult to learn). Changing cotton or silica wicks is easy, just requires tearing down the tank and reassembling it. You don't need a DNA mod to power a KFL, its happy between 1.2 - 2.0 ohms, which the Provari handles perfectly.

Why Provari?

Finding a tobacco flavor will likely be the toughest part. If there's a vape shop where he/she can sample flavors, chances improve greatly on finding one they will like.

I recently got my father in law set up. It was fun, because I remembered how tough it was getting what I needed when I started. When I started, it was just with plain Ego type batteries. They didn't really do the trick for me. I needed more hit-more POWER. So when I switched to variable voltage and higher nic juices, I was fine.

For my father in law, I bought him a new spinner battery, and gave him one of my old standard egos. For toppers, just got him a couple of IClear16s and 2 bottles of juice of his choosing. It was a lot of fun, I took him to the vape store and we sampled juices and he got to pick them out. I also gave him one of my extra battery charges and bought him a little case to put it all in.

I just kept it real simple. I remember starting out and just blindly buying stuff. NOT a good idea! It's nice that our friends and family have someone to help them out!

I got my mom off of a 50 year smoking habit. I gave her my old ego stuff with 3 iclear 30s tanks and several coil replacements. I tried to upgrade her recently, I even offered to pay for it but she's happy with that ego stuff. I even offered her one of my ProVaris with a better tank. She says they are too heavy for her. She likes smaller batteries. I supply her juice too. She lives 3 hours way from me so I mail her packages a few times a month. She's on a fixed income so I'm happy to help her out. She likes my DIY juices anyway. It's good when we can help get friends or family members switched over. We more than likely are helping add years to their lives.

I have the hannah v3 it is simple to use. real simple. only issue is it will only take tanks with 510 connection unless you get the adapter, and then you are already making it too complicated for him/her. might want to get him a manger aeromega, awesome tank or a nautilus. building coils and reworking them for someone just starting can be intimidating. remember when people are starting off to keep it simple. unless they are into some trade that already involves tinkering and such. so a good mod. a few good tanks and some good juice. 200$ and he/she is set for a hot minute. then let them build at their on speed. and honestly the nautilus and the kanger pro tanks with air adjustment hit like a dream compared to the ego tanks

He liked your setup.

You're wondering if to get him a DNA30.

No. That's his business.
Get him the same setup as you; or else get an mvp2; all he needs is something to keep him off the cigs for a month, and after that he's home free and on his own.

Wow thanks for all the great replys, and the kind words. I'm just so unsure how to set him up as I really want it to work and just get it right the first time. I'm pretty sure he's not gonna wanna drop the coin for a provari, most likely he won't wanna spend more than $150 all together. The MVP seems great cuz theres no batteries to jack around with and it gets rave reviews I'm just not sure of it in the power dept. Also being new myself all I've tried were my ego , ego vv, a provari and my mech......grrr decisions, decisions. Anyways keep throwing any suggestions out , and thanks again
