Howdy ya'll, I'm hoping you can help me with my problem!

I'm mainly a ProTank girl, but I picked up an IClear16 after trying the one I bought for my father in law to get him started on vaping. I enjoyed the warmer vape it brought to my RY4's.

I vaped several tanks full of a few different RY4's and a few tanks of Big Willies custard. It was over a week before I felt the need to change the coil. 8 days, actually.

So I change the coil and load it up. I wait a while before vaping, you know, want to get the wicks all saturated. Then after an hour or so I try vaping. It tastes funny, like rubber and a little burnt. I turn it around and upside down making sure the wicks are getting wet. Still same issue.

I deduct that perhaps I have a bad coil, and just put in a new one. But I'm having the same issue with my 2nd new coil, only worse. Instead of it tasting rubbery, it just tastes plain burnt.

It's been sitting for almost 24 hours.

Here are my questions. Keep in mind that I am new to top coil clearos.

1)Are IClear16 coils as finicky as ProTank coils? About 1 in 5 protank coils are duds to me. I thought the IClears were better made, but perhaps I am wrong?
2)What else can I do to help my issue? Trim back the rubber thingy at the top of the coil? Perhaps that is inhibiting juice flow?
3) I'm using the same juices now as I was when I was having good times with my first coil. Why the difference? Both are and were genuine Innokin products.

Please help, My RY4's and Big Willies just don't taste as good in my Protanks! Oh, and please...don't suggest rebuilding. My shaky hands and poor eyesight do not allow me to be successful with it. I tried countless times to rebuild ProTank coils. It was a travesty. I can't change. :)

I don't have any 16's, but have a 30 a 30s and two XI's. I have the same problem with the 30 some times. Seems almost like right from the start it's got something on the coil that tastes like burned wick or rubber. You might try comparing them under a powerful magnifying glass to see if you can see any differences. Someone suggested pre wetting the coil and wick before putting them in. to me. I haven't done that as of yet.
