so i built my first coils for my protanks on saturday. on monday i had to change the cotton wick because i was getting a burnt taste. after installing new cotton all i can taste is burnt juice. turned the watts on my vamo down and it wouldnt even vape. 2.5 ohm coil was vaping great saturday at 11watts with awesome flavor. monday complete and total failure, turn watts down to next to nothing and it wouldnt even vape. air flow is good, not to much or to little, just burnt juice no matter what.. coil is still showing 2.5ohm. need help please. using a vamo v3 with protank 2 or protank 3. currently back to PT3 with stock coils.

update. i have completely failed at every coil i have made since the first 2. and one of the 2 has failed as well. i even tried removing the silica wick from a stock head and replacing it with cotton and that didnt work. so i am going to wait until i get something made to be rebuilt before trying again.

wrapped a new coil today at 3.0ohm wicked it with cotton and let it soak for about 20 minutes before vaping it. it is throwing out a good sized cloud but flavor just isnt there. i cant seem to get it right. i have just enough cotton to keep it from leaking out the bottom and have run the watts from 3-15 on my vamo V3. at a loss again. but not giving up on it cause i want to get into rebuildables and need to start somewhere.

I've rebuilt my PT2 a couple of times. first just replacing the wick, that worked for a few hours. then by replacing the coil as well. First coil was a 28 gauge 1.8 ohm coil (highest ohms I could fit in there). It hit harder than I liked, so I got more Kanthal at 30awg, I built one coil around 2.8 ohms, and another at about 2 ohms. I much prefer the taste off of the 2 ohm coil. with my 1.8% Jet Fuel Watermelon Sundae it hits nice.

A difference between your's and mine though, is I'm still using my ego 900mAh battery, not even a c-twist... But I have a Vamo V5 in the mail... from China, so who knows when I'll actually get it.

About the cotton, I've found with my vaping style (long, frequent pulls), I burn the wick out in less than a day :(. I haven't actually gotten the burnt flavor you mentioned, but I just lose most the flavor and most of the TH, that's when I know I need to remove the wick, dry burn the coil to clean it (not too long, you don't want to heat the legs and burn the rubber) and re-wick the coil, and I'm back to happyness (takes maybe 2 minutes)

my first build worked great for about 2-3 days then i had to rewick it and it didnt work right after. todays 3.0ohm is working ok. going to try to make some lower ohm coils tomorrow i think. working with 32gauge is a pain imo, wishing i had got 28 or 30. as for the vamo i vape stock PT3 2.0ohm coils between 3.6 and 4 volts. or between 7 and 9 watts. it all depends on my taste buds what i use power wise. on my ego twist with 2.5ohm PT2 i vape at 3.8-4 volts.
