Hi, I wonder if you knowledgeable people can help me and my dad out.

He's a vaping convert, but finds he leaves his batteries at work. Why he brings all 4 to work with him I don't know, but he'd like another backup, and has spotted the evod twist vv 1600 mah. I think it's the battery size that's tempted him, as he chain vapes in his office all day (actually, that'd explain why all his batteries travel with him all the time).

Anyway - he uses Mini Protanks. To me, the battery looks chubbier than his normal ones, so I wonder if the two are compatible. Does anyone have one they could post a photo of together with a mini protank (or tank of similar size) so we can see whether they're compatible? He'd rather not venture in to different tanks, as he's nearly 70 and it's taken him 3 months to get to grips with the Protanks and their coils. He threw his first tank out because he was used to disposable ones!

If it is ridiculously small, a pic of one with a regular sized Protank on would be useful too.

Thanks very much!

Either an mvp or an istick,
Mvp is built like a tank and with my chain vaping I've never had mine drop below 50% it has variable wattage and voltage, the watts can be adjusted by .5watt steps
Istick is a bit smaller and not as rugged, I can run mine down to about 20% during a normal working day (18hrs) but it is a really nice battery too, it is also vv/vw but has a wider range for wattages and is adjustable in .1watt steps
I prefer my istick as I can get it just perfect using vw
Both can be charged while being used too so even if he did run one down he can plug it in and keep chuffing like a steam train without a problem.
(My set up is now, istick with nautilus, I have a spinner II in my vape case as a back up, and I keep the mvp2 at home for if I run my istick down before bedtime)

To answer your question, yes. I have the Aro Winder which is basically the same thing. Its compatible with all my evod tanks (ego connection) as well as my Aerotank (510). Since he chain vapes in his office, maybe getting an ego battery with pass through for work would help. As long as he has a power source he can vape till he's silly and never have to worry. He could leave all his other batteries at home.

The battery that you suggest will work just fine with the mini protanks. The MVP is a tank, but the battery lasts for a very long time.

I love my isticks, but would not recommend them if he is using a single coil mini protank. Many people (me included) find that the single kanger coils taste burnt even on the lowest settings. I would stick with what you are looking at.

He's really very happy with the set up he's got, and I'd rather not rock the boat with something "different" like an MVP or iStick - he's been a smoker since he was 14 (now 69) and this is the only attempt he's ever made to stay off ciggies. I do not want to ruin what he's got by changing it up, unless he wants to!

Will we need any extra bits for the mini protanks he's got (he is using v3s, so they are dual coil) to make it sit correctly, like a beauty ring or something?

If not, I thank you all for your advice and will proceed with the purchase.

Oh, as for passthrough, I asked him about that - his work computer has no spare USB ports, and there are literally no spare plug sockets that wouldn't require a 5 meter long cable to allow him to vape and charge at the same time, as that would have been the best plan, for sure.

Thanks all! This forum is always very helpful :)

A little USB hub costs less than $10, so if he likes the idea of the passthru, maybe you could get him a hub. Comes w/anything from 2-6 or even more usb ports. :)

"He's really very happy with the set up he's got". Yes, understand that. :)

I personally do not love the Evod batteries, since the on/off button is almost flush with the body of the battery, and I can't usually get it w/out looking. :)

So yeah, a spinner 1300mah or an evod will be fine, and the battery being a tad fatter should not adversely affect things, it is usually worse when the batt is thin and you are putting a full size protank on it....then you do need a ring/tank support to sit it on. For instance, here is a full sized (not mini) PT on a spinner:

Personally, I really like the Kamry X6 batts that are 1300mah but not really VV (has 3 voltage settings) but those are more than enough for me. It is really light, it looks good with a protank mini as well as a protank full size, and lasts all day. And it is very lightweight. And...cheap. :)
It has a deeper well (like the Spinner) so make sure the usb charger is right one --- the youtube video shows what it looks like with a CE4 as well as a full size protank 510 as well as a protank 2 mini. :) To me, it looks smokin' good with a full size protank on it:

It's not talked about much here, although that is probably due to fixed battery and fact that it only has 3 voltages, not true VV, but for the money, the size, weight, etc. is just perfect IMHO. I love mine. :) It has 510 and ego connection, so pretty much everything fits on there. :)

The reason a 1300mah is going to be a bit fatter is due to higher mah. Do not get the ego twist version, while I am a huge fan of joyetech ego twists, the 1000mah is like a light sabre, because they didn't make it fatter, just longer. :)

My other choice would be a Vision Spinner in the 1300mAH category. (hate the 1600 version). I think it's just the perfecct size and width, charges up nice, it is best battery vision made IMHO --- you get about 9-12 hours, it's not too heavy, the coating is "grippy", and 2 of those should be enough to get Dad thru the day and night.

Oh, Jojo....... I found a pic of the evod twist w/protank mini on it here (not my photo):

I'll give you one more possibility while I'jm at it. IF your dad does not require VV.......you can't go wrong with the Provape-1. Lifetime guarantee, takes replaceable 14500 batts so he could just carry spare batts (they are the same size as akaline AAs and in a plastic case, very pocketable) and it's a great size and weight but he would have to use Low resistance coils since it is just a 3.7v device, and it only has 510 so he would have to put a 510-to-Ego adapter on it to use with the protank mini: (not my photo) It's on the right:

Edit: re-read your post with pictures, makes more sense now. Dad would totally do something stupid with the batteries. *I* would do something stupid with the batteries, so I don't want him getting his hands on them!!

Thank you for your help and photo hunting! We're going to grab the evod 1600 and see how he gets on. He'll want a new one in a few months anyway :)

What is your concern here? That the diameter of the tank will be different than the battery and not be perfectly flush? If that's the case, it will function fine and not be any problem or danger to the person vaping. More of a fashion statement. Like worrying about how your pac boots look with your Armani suit in a life-threatening blizzard.

:)

And really, what's important here?...form or function?...or most critically, keeping dear old dad off the cigarettes?

I just wanted to make sure we didn't need a beauty ring or something. Happy to see we don't.

In any case, if he hates it, I'm yoinking it as I think it has a spring-loaded connector - my mini Nautilus does not play well with my little iTaste vv v3s, so the evod wouldn't go to waste :)

As you say - I just want to keep him off the ciggies.
