howdy - and welcome... what ohm coil were you using and what wattage were you vaping at for starters? it sounds like the coil was not seated properly or maybe a bad coil - if it is heating up like that, there may also be a shorting issue with the tank
I am using the 0.6 ohm coil it came with and turned it up to 60 watts, though I didn't adjust any other settings on the mod. I tried reseating the coil just to make sure it was nice and snug. Juice still came out and that's when the whole tank started heating up fast.

hrm - if it is the tct tank, i thought it came with .15ohm nickel coils (for a Temp Control mod), though that tank is supposed to be compatible with the vct coils also... 60 watts on a .6 ohm coil seems pretty high - may have fried the coil or may be a bad coil - do you have any replacement coils you can try out in it? if the tank is heating up that fast, it sounds like a short possibly or may be just too much wattage for that coil... is the mod heating up too or just the tank? I am reading that the .4 ohm coil is only rated 20-30 watts - does the coil you are using have a recommended wattage rating on it (on the actual coil itself)?

When I removed the coil, it said 30-80w on the side, so 60 should be okay. But when I bring it down to 20-30, there's little to no vapor. But also less leaking of juice as well.

what kind of juice are you using (PG/VG ratio)... keep in mind, just because a coil is rated that high in theory, does not mean that its optimal performance will be on the high side... the .5 ohm vertical coils for my v2 kanger subtank mini are rated up to 60 watts, and I generally use a high vg juice (70% or more vg), the vape starts to get real warm and a bit crunchy over 45 watts - just my personal experience... I have not used the smok tank, though I have an m80 and love it... may try doing some searching on youtube for smok tct tank, see if there might be some additional info there - and just to confirm, that is not one of the ni200 (nickel/ temp control) coils you are using, correct?

temp control on the m80 is bs - there are several reviews/ vids out there detailing this - I would suggest ONLY using it in wattage (or mech, if that is your preference) modes - even with firmware updates, TC on the m80 does NOT work the way it is supposed to... the wattage I use varies depending on the tank/ coils I am using (kanger subtank with new vertical occ .5, 35-45 watts, atlantis mega with .3 ohm coil 50-60 watts, 13 heavens rda with .4 ohm dual coil build 45-55 watts) - and I am generally using 70%+ vg juices - not a huge fan of the pg, lol...

again, i would strongly suggest NOT using your M80 in TC mode - do a quick search on youtube and you will see what I mean

I am using Jezebel, which is a 50/50 split. And I believe I'm using the correct coils as they came with the tank itself.
Just out of curiosity, what temp do you have your m80 set to? I've heard you need to crank it to 450 in order to get vapor...?
and when you say 'correct coils', some tanks come with TC coils (which are not going to work well on the m80) and some come with kanthal coils (which will) - just because it came with the tank and fits in the tank does not necessarily mean that setup will fire well on your mod - may want to make sure they are not nickel coils is all I am saying here - a .5 kanthal coil (and the smok vct tank coils, which I believe are kanthal, should fit that tank perfectly) run in the 20-35 watt range should give you a decent vape...

I just bought a Smok m80 and Smok TCT sub ohm tank, along with some new juice but HUGE problems arose. The juice came POURING out of the air holes at the bottom and the whole tank got so hot, it burned my hand. What a mess!! What am I doing wrong??

if the tank gets hot, the air pressure builds up inside the tank forcing the liquid downwards through the coil and out the airholes.

raise wattage slowly; maybe 10% at a time.

when the coil is too wet, vapour production is weak, but it will get there.
If you simply crank the wattage up to high, it will dry out the wick too fast then start burning stuff and overheating.
