Hi, everyone

I've only been vaping for a little over a week and been smoke free for the same period. Happy about that! But like most people I bought my first e-cig without really knowing what I really needed. Bought an NJoy NPro Duo kit. Initially thought I would prefer a cigarette look-a-like, but now I think I would prefer something in black.

In a week I've gone through 4 cartomizers without really doing too much vaping. I used to smoke 10-15 analogues a day, but I wouldn't say I've used my NJoy as much as I used to smoke.

It's probably true to say that I'm feeling a little disappointed in my e-cig right now. Looking at the cost of spares and refills it looks likely that vaping won't save me much money. Sure the health bit is a major plus, but I do enjoy smoking and I'm probably close to going back, which I DO NOT want to do! Have tried giving up smoking many times before and hoped that I could at least remove the harmful side of it by vaping.

What I'd like is for some help and encouragement to stay smoke free. Any advice on a better e-cig would be much appreciated and I hope I can find that here.

For the me the flavour is high up my list of priorities. I have ordered some flavours (cinnamon, clove and Dr Pepper), but they haven't arrived yet. I've read loads of reviews, probably too many, because now I'm confused as to what would suit me best.

I prefer the look and feel of the mini e-cigs, but realise they may not be my best choice. If I could have it all I would like something similar to the NJoy (in black), with a battery that would last a day, great flavour and decent vapor.

So taste first, battery second and vapor last.

Should I look at a 510 with 2 or 3 mega batteries? A PCC to keep charging on the go and take supplies with me? Preferably a PCC that would also hold a fully assembled cig so I only have to carry one case. How many atomizers? What other spares?

I've looked at Riva's and I'm just so unsure about the size. Do they give a good amount of flavour? What spares would I need to keep me going?

Waaaaaahhhhh! I'm confused! At least smoking an analogue was easy. Choose your brand, open packet, take cig, light it, smoke it. But I really don't want to go back to doing that!

Sorry for the rant, but I really am confused and feeling a little jaded with vaping already! It just seems like so much more of a hassle. {sigh}

Cheers, folks, sorry to be a drag. (Pun not intended!) :(

I am new as well. Posting a lot today as I am bored at the shop and I can't lock up for another 45 minutes... anyhow.

My first kit was the NJoy NPro 2N1, like yours I think. At first I tried refilling the cartomizers with a liquid I bought at the mall. (cartridges / atomizers) it worked good the first couple of times, then it started to taste like burnt fish... idunno but it was gross tasting. I just got in my 510 yesterday and I have to say it is 10x better than the NJoy unit I had. I like my 510 and I don't see myself needing to move up to a more powerful unit in the near future (i hope).

I think as a first "real" kit, the 510 would be a great an inexpensive starting place. My initial investment of less than 80 bucks got me a 510 kit ( enough to make 2 complete eCigs with 5 prefilled cartridges), a USB Passthrough, 5 empty cartridges, and a 30 ml bottle of juice.

Hi! I would highly recommend the Riva, or an eGo. That's the cheapest way you're going to get decent battery life. Many of us started out just like you have. I did the mall kiosk e-cig, then the 510 with LOTS of batteries charging ALL the time, then I got an eGo (Riva, same thing almost) and it was a game changer. NOW they have stuff that's even better...you can get a 1000mAh eGo battery. It does last me all day...and I vape a lot.

I wouldn't recommend throwing good money after bad for that first e-cig of yours. Pass it along to someone who is curious about e-cigs.

And juice is a BIG deal....try several flavors from several vendors in several nic levels. It'll be a new world and you won't even *think* you want a cigarette.

Hi, i have been vaping (and cig free) for a little over 5 weeks now. i have a 510 set in black that i got from efox. it came with a PCC as well that i do like-especially when i am out. i wanted a 510. i wanted it to look and feel like a cig. i knew that i wanted to fill my own carts so i bought a bunch of juice as well. i got some non-tobacco flavors but mostly tobacco flavors. about a week into vaping i couldnt stand the tobacco flavors! i also realized that the battery life of 510's is terrible. i'm lucky if i get over an hour per battery. i just ordered a riva from liberty-flights and cannot wait to get it. the battery is much bigger than the 510's in size and duration. some people have asked me if i will feel weird/embarrassed using it. honestly-the answer is NO! i do not smoke cigs anymore. i do not like the smell or taste of them. i dont need an e cig to look like one either. for the first week of vaping-i held my 510 like i held a cig. i no longer do. i don't know how the change happened. it just did. the funny thing is that when i knew i wanted to try the e cig thing-i was so hung up on the look and feel. i wanted it to be like a real cig. and maybe i needed that. maybe it was the "bridge" to cross over to vaping-to quit smoking. so, for that reason-i am not upset that i got the 510......although i am kicking myself now for spending $79.99 on the 510 and only 29.99 on the riva set! my advice is to get a riva or ego and buy juice to fill your own carts! sooooooo much better! good luck!

I also started with the Njoy Npro Duo. Found it at a local store, on sale, so I didn't pay the Njoy price. The Njoy Duo is actually a RN4081. You can find cheaper cartomizers and batteries for them. One of the best prefilled cartomizers I've found, that works with the Noy, is from unrealcigarettes.

That said, I soon moved up to the Joye eGo. The difference is between night and day. Sure, the eGo is bigger and doesn't look like a cigarette, but the performance is so much better. The eGo comes with atomizers and cartridges instead of cartomizers, but cartomizers can be had for the eGo. Check out Liberty Flights, don't forget to click the discount button at the top, for the best price on the eGo or it's Riva clone.

cleavlandlove- you won't kick yourself if for some reason your other e-cig goes on the fritz and you 'drag out' that first pv you bought to tide you over until replacements can be had. (trust me, I speak from experience!) The nice thing is that your 510 stuff will fit on your riva. Also, take a look at cartomizers (they have filling like a cart, but have a built in atomizer), you can fill them with about 1ml of juice, and if they die you have only lost about a buck or so. If you get the 510 ones, they will fit on the riva and the 510 batteries.
Congrats on getting analog free!

Just get the Ego or riva and save yourself a lot of time and angst. Yes, we all wanted an e-cig that looked and felt like a real cig. It isn't out there so you might as well quit looking. You'll buy one, use it - and within a week wishing for more battery life. And if it was a mall-kiosk brand or similar - you'll still be paying out the nose.

Once you get your Ego or Ego-like unit you'll wonder what you were thinking. We all did that. Once you have the Ego - it all becomes less of a hassle and you'll enjoy it so much more. You won't need a pass through or a PCC because the battery life is so long. If you can run down the batteries on 2 ego batteries in a single you're probably vaping way to much ;). I've done it - but it's a sure sign I've been glued to my computer for 14 hours without a break.

Save yourself some money and just order it ;). Once you have an ecig with a good battery life - you'll get addicted to buying amazing juice. And just buying juice is so much cheaper than buying analogs.

You need to refill cartos to make them cost-effective - adding juice before it gets dry so you don't singe the stuffing. I can usually get a week out of one. I don't know how amenable the Njoy ones are to refilling but if it's the 2-piece (Njoy Npro aka 2-n-1??) you can use plain RN4081 blank cartomizers available elsewhere.

510 - I can't decide myself. I do say get MANUAL batteries. More sealed and protected against juice leaks, less work, more consistent drags, won't turn on accidentally from wind or vibration. I have one each of standard and mega xl. I use my 510 with blank cartos or with a Joye 306 atty and 306 carts. I am trying to decide myself because I want a PCC and need to get at least 1 more of one of the sizes and get that size PCC... The standards - nice size ecig with a carto, light and balanced. The megas - 1.5x the battery charge but make a 135mm ecig with 510 atty+cart or 125mm with battery plus a standard Boge carto. I think I will end up going with the megas even though it looks a bit too long for a cig.

+1 for the ego or clone, but I like to have original designs instead of clones( just the way I am). I started researching about a week before I made the purchase from liberty flights. Woke up one day and just didn't want to keep smoking. I almost bought one of those blue p.o.s. and before I clicked the confirm button to placate order I figure I should research it like I do everything else.....glad I did, I found this awesome library full of information ECF! Thank god I did because I would have just thrown money away with the blue p.o.s. after reading for close to a week I was pointed towards liberty flights and an awesome deal for the ego. I have not had a cigarette since it arrived. Now I just can't stop searching and buying juice, hopefully I will break even one of these days but either way I feel so much better not smoking. So my advice just order it and be done with the search you will be happy with it the battery lasts you can find atty's on sale around $5 get a few just in case get some empty carts vape away and don't look back!
Good luck and happy vaping!

Thanks for all the posts, everyone. It really helps. I think I am going to take the plunge and get an eGo/Riva and see how I get on. From the comments I reckon I would probably be disappointed in a 510, although...... I may get a cheap 510 kit as well just because I like how the black ones look.

I will post again once the unit arrives and give you my verdict. Wish me luck, people!! :)

Well, I've taken the plunge and ordered a TW Tornado Tank Kit. I know the reviews seem to be split on this one, but it sounds perfect for me. Plenty of battery power, good flavour (generally) and easy filling. So fingers crossed it works out for me. I figure if there are problems with it, like leaking, then I can just buy different attys (hopefully I'm getting the lingo right!) and carts.

I'll probably still get a 510 at some point too since I can share kit between the batteries (I can share kit between the batteries, right?!).

So some time next week I will let you know how I'm getting on and my first impressions of the TWTT. (Totally Wicked better not bring out a tank system called Atom!! :p)

If you're new to vaping, go straight to the tank system. Totally Wicked looks like they have a good setup. I prefer Volcanoecigs.com for the Inferno-T kit. I'm went from smoking to vaping to smoking and now back to vaping because of the tank system's simplicity. Cartomizers are too much work to refill and not too cost effective to replace. Carrying several standard 510 batteries and rechariging is miserable. Trust me- get the tank system and never look back. Here's a link to the kit I like: Volcano's Inferno-T Kit
You will only need that one pack of 5 tanks that comes with it. Maybe in like 6 months you might need another pack of 5. You should buy a spare tank-o-mizer (the atomizer). I think 2 a month will be more than enough but if you clean them once a week, 2 should last you approx 3 months.

If you want to stay with an analog-size battery, your best bet IMO is a 510. You can use cartomizers for a 2 piece stick and atomizers with cartridges (or no cart and a drip tip to drip juice directly into the atomizer) for the 3 piece stick. You can use the cartomizers and atomizers interchangeably with the 510 battery. If you decide at some point that you really like vaping but need the battery to last longer, you can get an eGo battery and still use your 510 atomizers and cartomizers with it. (Or stay with the 510 battery if that works for you.)

Got my Tornado Tank yesterday and.............. I love it!!! It's smaller than I anticipated, lighter and easier to hold. The flavour off it (compared to my NJoy) is wonderful! I got the menthol kit and it is really minty! Vapour is much better than the NJoy too and seems to hang in the air a little longer. I bought some empty tanks and some Dr Pepper liquid (from Freedom2Vape). The tanks are extremely easy to fill and the Dr Pepper, though not really tasting like the real thing, is nice and sweet. So first impressions are really high.

Once I've 'run it in' for a while I'll let you know how I'm getting on, but really, really like it! I had that slight burnt flavour at the start but after about puff 5 or so it was gone.

Thanks to everyone who recommended I got an eGo/Tornado!!
