Well, in 2 weeks I’ve gone from a DSE901 to a 510 to an eGo (and kicked the analogs). I really like the eGo, but can already see that keeping this in batteries is going to get ugly at 20 bucks a pop. So I’m looking at what my next PV should be.

I want a unit that will take readily available battery’s (non proprietary), well built, don’t care too much what it looks like. I do vape A LOT! I am also trying to avoid my natural tendency to become dissatisfied quickly and lust for the next and the next ‘perfect’ (whatever that is) thing. I don’t drip, so not an issue. I use PTB carts or cartomizers, depending on the situation.

That being said, I’ve narrowed my choices down to 5. The Indulgence (cheapest), The Silver Bullet, The BB, Little Chuck or Big chuck. The Bullet’s and the Chuck’s seem to have a large fan base here, for good reason, I’m sure. The Indulgence seemed to start with a bang but is not being mentioned much anymore. It seems that all of these can also do HV if I should want to try that later.

I’m sure I have missed many a members favorite mod, but with all the choices, I had to start the winnowing process somewhere. I’m leaning towards the BB or the Indulgence since they seem to be a bit more portable and discrete. The SB and Big Chuck seem to be more at home devices.

I look forward to hearing you opinions on the benefits and drawbacks of my choices.

Thanks

You won't find a sturdier PV than the Chuck. THAG BUILT: A Wolf in Sheeps Clothing!
Jeff at Thagbuilt offers a 1 year warranty and he'll honor it no matter what you do to it.
This thing takes an 18650 battery for 3.7 volts with a whopping 2400 to 3000 mAh (a good 2 days of heavy vaping) or 2 RCR123s for 6 volt vaping. The big seller is that you can send Jeff a jpeg of any graphic you want and he'll personalize your Chuck for no extra charge.

I went almost the same route and 3 weeks ago I started obsessing about what MOD to get... It was between the pro-vape, chuck and GGTS... these were agonizing all night decisions;-)

Then, the Saber Touch came out of nowhere and I got that one.
I got the 5V... and I love it... beautiful... well constructed... safe... not too expensive... no too long of a wait... great customer service. 510 easy.

One thing I didn't realize is how much quicker a 5+Volt device burns juice... in any case, I love the saber touch...

Thanks all,

Yes, I'm still looking at the Chuck, but it seems a bit large and the switch just kinda turns me off, but, I'm open.

Still looking for some thoughts on the relative merits of each of my original choices.

I don't have a ton of money to keep chasing the next best thing, don't care if it's 'popular' or has a 'fan base' just that it works and is reliable.

Thanks,

GB

I recently acquired an eGo myself and am completely satisfied with it at this point (2 weeks). However I am interested in hearing from more long term users re: battery life expectancy.

That's what I'm wondering about as well. I've got 2 batts. that I keep in rotation. With the fast charge times, I have to wonder how many cycles these things will take.

Oh, and in less than a week, the finish is already starting to peel off the cone:mad:

The Chuck is not as big as it looks.
In fact, if I am not mistaken, it is slightly smaller than a Silver Bullet.

The switch is the one issue with the Chuck.

Not that there is anything wrong with the switch, it works every time you push it.
And that's more than you can say for a lot of the switches out there.

But the switch has more of a chance of getting accidentally pressed while carrying it.

The solution is to remove the atomizer while carrying.
Then the battery will not activate even if the button is pressed.

And really, that is not a bad suggestion for any big battery mod.
The alternative is to get a mod that has an on/off switch.

Keep looking at the chuck. Price is good, very dependable. You get use to the size and besides, because you don't even hold it like a regular cig, it totally helps break the muscle memory so I look at that as a plus.

As far as the switch goes, it is very easy to use, the only thing you need to remember is to not pocket it in such a way that the switch can be hit. If so, just unscrew your carto or atty. I have both types of chucks, ordered them for hubs and now I just ordered another full size chuck. I pondered some of the newer mods with the different switch but couldn't justify spending double for just that. From what I have seen, Jeff totally backs up his product so if you were to have issues you can rest assured you'll get taken care of and usually any issues are very easily fixed.

Yes, works for me too:drool:. With an LR atty and a PTB, these are good. but the fact remains, the batts are proprietary and not cheap.

I wouldn't think of it that way. You buy a new battery for $20 and a $3 for a new cone if yours is banged up and its a brand new device for $23 :toast:.

What I find interesting about this thread is the lack of response from the SB / BB or Indulgence folks.

The ‘Chuck’ers have weighed in. How about the rest of you?

Really, the Indulgence for $60.00 with adapters for most any atty??? Just Chinese junk? I would really like to know why I would not be happy with it.

The BB or the SB for around $110.00? Again, why not?

The Chuck, is well, the Chuck. I get it. But graphics make no difference to me.

Just want something that I can get re-chargeable battery's for that delivers the vape and TH.

I think a lot of semi-new vapers would really like to know where to go after an eGo.

Yes, definitely check out the Bartleby, that is an excellent choice too.

Honestly, if you don't care about the graphics, you probably should get a Silver Bullet. I think the performance difference is probably negligile, so really, the tradeoff is graphics versus recessed button.

But again, yeah, take a look at the Bartleby.
If I ever get anything else besides my Chucks, it will be the Bartleby.

I paid about $6.00 the last time I bought an 18650 battery and got nearly 4 times the mAh. My wooden veneered Chuck is still the prettiest PV I've ever seen. In a couple years when the butto wears out I'll solder in a new one for $6.50.
