My first sucessfull e-cig was a Joye 510. I picked it up from LiteCigUSA.com, but there are lots of suppliers listed on the forums that carry them. Don't hesitate to shop arround.

After some testing, I've decided that the DSE901 is my favorite. Of the ones I've tried,
("The Fifty One" duo, Joye 510, DSE901, DSE801 and M401) it provides the best balance of vapor, flavor and throat hit. (Others have different tastes and prefrences.)

Either the Joye 510 or the DSE 901 are a good starter. If you get the DSE 901 you will also be able to use cartos (KR808D-1) as well as the 901 atty/carts.

You will have to do some research and some testing to find the perfect e-cig/e-juice combinatin for you, but I hope this gives you a place to start from.

I have an m401 and really love it, though I plan on buying other models later on. Once I bought the kit itself and then figured out how to use the thing without burning out the atomizer (I did that frequently for the first few weeks for some reason, probably because I was refilling the carts incorrectly) my costs dropped to somewhere around 7-14 GPB a week. I can expect that to drop lower once I stop buying different juices all the time and figure out how to possibly resurrect the attys I may or may not have killed.

Once you get the hang of it, it really does become rather cost-efficient. It's just the initial investment and buying extra parts that jacks the price up for a while.

Welcome want2stop! You can purchase the 510 from Totally Wicked in the UK. http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk/ They are a little pricey but you will not be disappointed with their 510. They have several kits to choose from. Don't forget to pick up a couple of bottles of ejuice in different flavors and nic mgs. That is the difficult part, finding the nic and taste that you will like but you won't be sorry that you started vaping and quit the analogs! Good Luck!

8-ooh it all sounds so complicated

It's really not that complicated, I read for a month before I ordered to get as much info as I could. Everyone on the forum is very helpful. I ended up with a kr8 which is a 2 piece model with an extra long battery and it works out very well for me. I believe that any model you get will require work from you and is not as easy as opening a pack of smokes and lighting up. I am finding that the kr8 (KR808) is very easy to maintain.
I suggest you don't be in too much of a hurry and read and ask lot's of questions so that you feel good about the choice you make. The biggest problem I am having now is trying to figure out what flavors and nic levels are going to work for me. I still smoke, but only about a third of what I did, which any improvment is good, I believe I will some day soon just not want to smoke. As far as UK vendors I can not help, as I live in the states. I believe there is a UK thread in here too, this forum has been a wealth of help and information for me and I am sure it will be for you too.
As far as costs, even though I still do smoke some I am already saving money because after the initial PV purchase the juice and maintainance is much less than buying smokes.
Good luck in your quest and keep us posted:p

Seriously, don't fret.... you found this forum and it's a great place to get information when you are starting out! People here are really nice and helpful. Keep reading here in the newbie forum, read the guides and FAQ's or use the search at the bottom of the page for a specific question.

Everyone has different preferences but you will get a good idea of where to start. Personally I would also suggest getting a Joye 510. It's an excellent, inexpensive, basic kit that will give you all the tools you need to get an idea of what vaping is really like.

Above all, don't beat yourself up about it if you don't instantly stop smoking. Some people do, some people don't. Vaping is an alternative to smoking and if you think of it that way you may just find you enjoy vaping far more than you ever did smoking.

Good luck!:)
