What does NCR Prefix mean? as i found these , are they suitable?

Panasonic NCR18650PD 18650 UNPROTECTED 3.7V 2900 mAh: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

Is there a list of trusted suppliers or brands populated for the help of the new members or new entries into the world of mods.
NCR = nickel-cobalt rechargeable. It's what Panasonic calls their IMR/hybrid chemistry batteries. The Panasonic NCR18650PD is a great battery for general purpose mod use.

RTD Vapor, Orbtronics, and Illumination Supply are excellent sources for batteries and chargers.

The list of IMR & IMR/hybrid batteries in this link is a good source for brand name batteries. Pay attention to model numbers.

I also like my Nitecore I4. I usually don't charge more than 2 batteries at once, but occasionally I will have the need to charge 4 at a time if I've been away and used up my spares or have several in multiple mods at once that I rotate.

I like AW 18650 IMR and Efest IMR hybrids. Both are about equal in charge time and vape time. I'm still getting good vape time from my 2 year old plus AW's.

ok guys the amount of information passed down from everyone is amazing but however is daunting, due to the fact i have a family at home and safety is paramount.

from what i have determined already
1. use button tops
2. do not use protected in a vape mod.The protection circuit will clash with the APV electronics.
3. a good quality charger is a must.
4. do not use efire or trustfire
5.the more mAh the better (but be cautious over the true number value to what is printed).
6.do not use ANY ICR Li-ion battery.
7.Use only IMR or IMR/Hybrid batteries. These are newer technology, safe chemistry, high drain batteries and will perform much better in a mod than an ICR battery. These are also called unprotected Li-Mn.

What does NCR Prefix mean? as i found these , are they suitable?

However i am still daunted over the vast subject on batteries and at what i am looking for.

Is there a list of trusted suppliers or brands populated for the help of the new members or new entries into the world of Mods.

could someone help on this matter as i can only find batteries at less mAh, and efest (which does not seem to be a battery people recommend)

Thanks again
If I were you and you are probably very similar to me and everyone else in the vaping community then I would limit my options to what is affordable and won't be too much of a headache to deal with.

You are literally playing with fire (no pun intended) when you buy cheap batteries and chargers!! I debated chargers and batteries until I decided buy the best, safest ones I could. Went with Xtar VP2 and AW batteries :) Sony makes a great battery also. Authentic AW Batteries - RTD Vapor Great guy and great service:)

OK, here's the deal about the battery market -- it is currently very competitive between the various manufacturers and middlemen vendors. Like any business, there are some which are more trustworthy than others, especially since there is no authoratative body which regulates battery specifications or safety. This promotes some vendors to use cheap poor quality batteries harvested from old laptop computers or using the rejects from other companies ... re-wrap and re-brand them ... some branded to look like popular batteries like AW IMR. The high amp Sony batteries are relatively new on the market and becoming quite popular, so some fakes are now beginning to appear on the market.

So the danger of buying "cheap" batteries from vendors like Ebay, Amazon, etc is that many of them are these low quality rebranded batteries from dishonest distributors. Some vendors may not be aware that they are selling counterfeit batteries. Legit vendors like RTD Vapor, Illumination Supply, Orbtronics, Provape, etc buy directly from the manufacturers so their batteries are genuine brand name batteries. You'll pay more because they are the genuine name-brand batteries, not the possibly old rebranded batteries harvested from a laptop computer, or the reject batteries from Panasonic or Sony.

"Many think the best option is the largest AW Li-Mn battery that can be fitted (this is partly due to the fact that the supply chain can be verified if due diligence is used). Other safer-chemistry cells where the supply chain is verifiable are an equally-good choice; counterfeit batteries are a problem because the label is false and therefore the battery could be anything.

Battery counterfeiting
This is a growing problem and all APV users need to be aware of it.

This is what happens: the counterfeiters buy reject Li-ion batteries in bulk, strip the covers off, and re-cover them with labels that change them to look like popular brands. In this way they can take a cell bought for 10 cents, re-work it, and sell it as for example an AW battery with a retail price of $10. The profits are very high and this practice is growing. It means that you never really know what battery you have unless you buy from somewhere with a verified supply chain. For example, all AW batteries offered for sale on Alibaba are counterfeits, and possibly dangerous."

Guys i have been testing the water for a while now on the depths of this discussion, i have been looking for the Sony us18650VTC5 2600mAh 30 Amps.
However I can not find a reliable supplier that has these in stock or not on back order. That including RTD Vapor which has been recommended on numerous occasions by the members of this forum.
I can not find them in the UK other than eBay or Amazon. How do way up the risk of cost against safety even though the potential supplier says their the genuine article.

Can someone please help on this matter, as i have had to result back to my G-HIT batteries, which are also on their last legs.
Your help would be very much appreciated.

Orbtronic does ship internationally, scroll down to the bottom of this page for info. Just a fair warning, the shipping fees might be a bit rough (plus import duties, VAT and whatever else might pop up.)

I got bored and decided to do some poking around for you, and UK ECig Store has the 30A VTC5's in stock right now here. I don't live in the UK and have no idea about the rep of this vendor, but there it is if you're interested.

Orbtronic gave me an estimate on postage at $56 .......... nearly choked on my drip tip .Guess i will stick with the uk side of the water if it costs that much to dispatch 2 batteries from the states.
