HELP PLEASE! Check atomizer on Sigelei 150

Hi all!

This is my first post to ECF, excited to join the community... I'm posting because I purchased a sigelei 150W box mod about a month back and last night I finally went to crank it up passed 80 watts for the first time and it gave me the "check atomizer" message when I went to fire it... So naturally, I checked to make sure everything was tightened down, etc...
everything was normal, I dropped the wattage back down to my normal 70W and it works like a charm...

Why can't I crank it up?

I'm running a mutation X V3 dual coil (22 Awg kanthal wrapped around a 1/8" drill bit 5 times to give me a resistance of .2 ohms)... Within the box I have two Sony VTC4 batteries (2100mAh)...

I fiddled with it a bit last night before giving up in a fit a rage.

What was the ohms of the build? How much battery life did you have when this happened?I have heard that it can say that when the pin isn't sticking out far enough or when you ask the device to pull a lot of power when the batteries are drained too much. I don't know these to be true, but have seen others say that.

Oh and what batteries are you using? Could be pushing the batteries past their amp limit and the device shuts itself down.

Thanks for the reply, as I said in my original post the build was at .2 ohms and I was running two Sony VTC4 batteries (2100mAh).... What I didn't say is that they were at 100% battery life (just took them off the charger).

I have no idea what it could be, I've heard these batteries are great for box mod vaping

Well you weren't hitting the amp limit [of the chip], the Sigelei can handle as low as .15 ohm builds. Your batteries have a 30A limit too, and you weren't hitting that (although 80W at .2 ohms is 20A exactly, which is odd..)

My guess is that something came loose somehow (maybe the connection, maybe a screw in the RDA), and it coincided with you cranking up the wattage. Have you tried again since last night? Result?

Maaybe its too much you are pulling over 20 amps thats a lot. Don't know what those batts are rated at might be too much for the batteries. I see they are rated for 30amps continuous. If your meter was off and it was actually .1ohms at 90w you would be pulling 30amps. You might be asking too much. it is also possible that your mod is firing hot and putting out more then you have it set for. Just curious why would you be firing a .2ohm load at higher then 80w that is a ton of power.

I JUST tried it again with a fresh set of VTC4 batteries (also charged to 100%, but not the ones I use on a daily basis) and it works! It actually goes all the way to 150W... Does that mean something is wrong with my daily use batteries?

my build actually came out to .19 (I round up lol) and my user name should explain why I would want to push it above 80W

Hm, it's possible, but it's not likely..

If your batteries are, for some reason, "broked", the box SHOULD detect that and not fire at all, regardless of the wattage setting. You do have your batteries paired/married, right?

The sig 150 is notorious for having a terrible 510 connector. I have one and when you loosen it up it is very wobbly. Other than that is a decent mod. I don't think it's a battery problem. I know 4 out of 5 people with the sigelei that had the same problem.

Daniel, how did they go about fixing the problem? Tightening the pin? Sorry if these are noob questions, but after all, I am a noob lol

VTC's are fine, but there are some fakes floating around out there (mostly of VTC5's, but I've heard of VTC4 fakes too).

I have some LG HE2's that have been holding up pretty damn well, and I also have some Efest 35A's (which are actually 20A, but that doesn't pose a problem for me; I don't really build anything that'd cause me to push 20A). I also have a matched pair of Samsung 25R's on the way, which are supposed to be some really high-quality batteries (also the fact that they're matched -- sold as a pair -- is nice, since I'll be using these in a box).

I'm sorry I don't know of a simple fix for that problem. My daily user is also a mutation and I have a friend who is a silver smith so I had him add some more silver plating on my positive post. I have several other attys that I don't have a problem with on it.

The dark horse and rampage look awesome but they are a bit pricey for the authentics... I've been thinking about getting a Doge... Anyone have one of those or something similar that would like to chime in with your opinion?

The rampage does look like it could be a lot of fun with the triple coil builds you could do on it though... It might be worth the money (I could go bankrupt buying "new toys" for my vaping) lol
