There is no way that an 8 wrap of 24 gauge could equal 2.8 ohms and burn too hot. Maybe 0.28 ohms but that doesn't really seem probable unless you are doing a super nano coil. I would retest the resistance and come back and let us know what it is. If it is still reading that then I would trash the coil as it probably has a short somewhere or the connections are loose.

Hey there I've been vaping for about 5 months and recently started my own builds. I built my coworkers on a 24 gage 8 wraps at 2.8 ohms but it's catching fire and burning too hot. Any suggestions what I'm doing wrong?

OK, so it's probably lower than 2.8 ohms :). Check it again OGPIPPY and tell us what it really is.

When dry burning a coil/wick they can burn. If it's doing it with a saturated wick you've got an issue that needs to be resolved before anyone vapes that thing.
