Then chalk it up as "a bad day" and vape on! :)

There will be bumps in the road. There's so much crap in modern tobacco products, who knows what does which when. You're actually withdrawing from thousands of chemicals and sometimes it can get a little weird. I had really awful week where--for I dunno why--my sleep schedule went completely insane. And about two days I swear I could have slept straight through. Could. Not. Wake. Up.

But ended up with sleep that's better than I've had in years and years. Still, had a couple of days where I thought I was just going to flip out they were so... weird.

Still, it was easier than the gum, the patch, Zyban (oh, man, that stuff did a number on me) or anything else I tried...

It's the psychology of "can't" that drives most of my cravings.

Heh. With me, it could almost cause a panic attack. Seriously. My doctor commented on my smoking back before I switched and it felt like the air had been sucked out the room.

Maybe in part because every quit attempt of mine was such a horror show of a nightmare. Switching to vaping had its bumps and bothers but it wasn't anything like my "quit" attempts. Those were... shudder...

I just want to throw this out there, and if it's been said already, I apologize, but it disheartens me when I hear vapers who have a 'quit smoking' mindset with nic. I'd wager that most of us didn't quit smoking because of the nicotine. We quit because of the cancerous properties associated with inhaling burning tobacco. Don't be so hard on yourselves, and don't let interested parties fool you about nicotine. Sure it's not harmless, but a cheeseburger will put you in a box just as fast as nicotine without any of the benefits. If you want to move down in nic then do it! If you need to bump it up to fight cravings then do it!

I'm just afraid that we'll soon start seeing anti-vaping ads and without arming ourselves with knowledge we are going to get "cigarette shamed" all over again.

The headache and nausea could be from dehydration instead of the nicotine. I had that problem. Upped my water intake and felt much better. Hang in there!

In my opinion this dehydration thing is just a myth. The PG draws water, thats right, but it does this already before you inhale it. That is why you see the vapor, the already heated PG binds water from the air which reflects the light-that is the vapor. It can not draw more water than it already did, that is why the vapor dissapears so fast. You could inhale the vapor of hot water and also get a dry throat.

Put a drop of water on a table and blow vapor out of your e-cig over it and look if there are changes, there will be none. That shows how strong this effect could be on your lungs, or body, if there was any...

The feeling of dehydration is just an effect that affects all people who quit smoking. It dissapears after a few days.

I think you're underestimating the scope of smoking addiction. We tend to think of it as a nicotine problem since that is the most visible symptom. But the habituation of smoking is very deeply ingrained into our lifestyles and must be managed as a separate group of issues.

These are big and small, together they tend to manifest as a traditional urge. That is how we have trained ourselves. Let me give you a trivial example. I've been doing this for like 6 months and only yesterday I realized the freedom of not needing a T shirt with a pocket to hold my smokes. Trivial thing really except that it was something I was doing completely smoke-centric. Never, ever did I give my choice of t-shirt a second thought because I needed someplace for my smokes.

So the urges you feel aren't necessarily for the nicotine and smoke, they're a call for the familiar and routine comfort zone we are so very highly trained for and have completely abandoned.

I strongly suggest that you don't smoke. You have to get yourself in a mindset that you'll never smoke again. Halfway measures just don't work [My opinion].

During my first few years of quitting I discovered Snuff [Nasal]

The Nasal snuff is excellent because it gives you a hit of Nicotine. After a year or so I just naturally gravitated away from Snuff I still have lot's of snuff and occasionally I take a snort.

I also did European Snus not to be confused with American Snus. Both European Snus and nasal snuff have never been proved to cause cancer.

Not saying you should plan on doing either forever but in the transition getting that sudden jolt of nicotine might help.

This section of the forum covers smokeless tobacco.
