Hi all

Thank god I found this site …. Was getting so confused with all the blurb out there on which e.cig I should buy… has left me a little dazed … ok what I am asking is for some sound advice on my purchasing my first e.cig. …. I smoke 10-15 roll up per day, drum blue tobacco, green Rizla papers and no filters … mainly in the morning … I have a fairly limited budget and want flavour and that hit so I don’t fall off the wagon …. All suggestions and guidance will be gratefully received. Thank you

I'm no expert on this , been "on that wagon" for a month, but I think what you're going to need in the morning is "nicotine that hits" more than a precise flavour, and maybe something darker flavoured like "tobacco and coffee", but you will not find the exact taste of your old roll ups. You're going to need throat hit I think, at least to start with, I'm not a throat hit fan so someone else will suggest a mix that would suit you, but what I wanted to tell you is this: e-cigs are different from the other methods you've used before to quit smoking, there's no need to be scared, you don't have to panick at the thought or force yourself to quit fully cold turkey if you're panicky about it, do what makes you comfortable, vape vape vape, and if you can't resist "that one cig" that you crave so much, just try and smoke it. I guarantee after a while the taste of analogs will start becoming unpleasant. Go at your own pace. And have fun :)

I'd suggest a 18 to 24 mg/ml dose for e-liquid at no more than 3 ml vaped per day. Twist batteries don't mean squat. You can do it with a Volt or better yet, a 3.7V regulated mod. You don't need VV or VW to quit. Lot of people have quit smoking with a 3.4 or 3.7V e-cig. Big batteries mean longer vaping between battery charges. Cartos and carto tanks are great. Vivi Novas require constant tipping making the user look silly.

mmm ok i can see that being such a newb to this i am already getting confused with your suggestions 'twist batteries' ...'volt' ?? ... i would like ease of use .. i.e pick the bugger up and smoke it ... not sure what you mean by 'tipping' Yzer ? ... sorry to be a pain guys as i know that as with normal cigs the market is huge and tastes vary to the user ... i also need to be able to purchase easily from the UK ... does this help ?

HERE is a link to an ego twist with a vivi nova atomizer combo it comes with two of each only thing you would nead would be juice.

keep in mind when ordering your juice there really is no flavor like a burning cigaret tho some company's have tried, most taste like a unlit cigaret smells, but it works because after a week or two of vaping you will absolutely hate the smell of regular cigarets.
i sugest you get yourself a few small bottles of fruit flavor or chocolate worked for me when i first quit.

best advice I can give is try a PV that has a 510 connection to the atomizing device: a carto is a good choice. If 510 is not available in the UK try 808. Forget about brand names like Vivi Nova... suggestions like these come from fan boys who don't have your best interest in mind. They are just selling their miniscule ego or product.

Things to look for in the UK or US...

3.4 to 3.7 minimal voltage from the PV. 650 mAh and above from the battery, the more the better depending on how big a battery you want to pack around. The bigger the battery the less often you need to recharge, the smaller the battery the better you can pack it.

Find something that uses bottles of e-liquid for re-fills. Pre-filed cartos or cartridges cost a lot, don't last very long and taste bad.

Have to agree and disagree with this one. Agree going for the 510 connection, and that a lot of prefilled cartos are expensive. Disagree about cartos and forgetting about brand names like the Vivi Nova. I absolutely hate cartos, and love the Vivi Nova. I have never tried a carto tank. I personally think the VN looks stupid on a twist, so if you get that (the eGo batteries are common in Germany, but I prefer KGOs) then I would try out a Vision V3 or a Kanger T3.
Disclaimer: I am not a fan boy. That whole part of the comment was kind of irritating. Everybody has different tastes, and I do have your interests in mind.

OK, just like anything else, everyone has their favorites (like w/combustible cigs, some like Marlboro, others will say that sucks, Camel's better), so let us not get into this "fanboy" this and that kind of argument here, and focus on helping the newbie. :)

Seeing as you are in the UK, I would suggest getting three more posts in here (so you have five), and then you'll have access to more sub-forums. In particular, you should visit the UK Forum HERE. They can help you find a vendor good for you in the UK, and avoid International shipping, etc. There may even be a physical store near you to which they could refer you.

Something to consider before looking at the choices is whether you think you must have a "cig-a-like" (cigarette-sized), or you would be willing to deal with one a little larger (say, cigar-sized), in order to improve battery performance. The former do not last long between charging, while the latter (depending on size) lasts much longer. So consider that first. Also, there are different attachments to the top of the battery that hold the liquid that heats into vapor. Again, everyone has their preferences, and many will insist their preference is best. The reason there are so many choices is that different equipment works better for each individual. To start, I would recommend getting a box of cartomizers (typically in a box of five) and two or three clearomizers (such as the "Stardust" aka CE4+, or the T2, if your battery has a "510" thread).

Finally, e-liquid. You can start with a tobacco or menthol, many, if not most, of us did. But keep in mind, the tobacco flavors are more like the smell of an un-lit combustible cigarette, as it's near-impossible to capture the flavor of burning leaves and paper. :) Many people still use a tobacco or menthol flavor, and I do on occasion as well. It just depends on my mood. Some still use one as their "ADV" or all day vape (flavor). But many have also turned to the fruity or dessert flavors, of which I love several as well. :) So with your hardware kit and clearos or cartos, be sure to get some e-liquid in a couple of smaller sizes so you don't waste something you end up not liking.

Let us know if you have any more questions, and remember to visit the UK forums after three more legit posts! :D

Welcome to ECF!

I do believe that cost was mentioned. What got me completely off cost less than $40+ juice. A 1100 mAh eGo with a mega cartomizer. $29.00 for the eGo, $7.00 for the charger, and $3.00 for the cart.

Man, just pass the beginners stuff & get a Vamo kit for 33$ from Vaaporbreak.com. People will tell you not to use the kit cause the batts are no good. That is not true. I am using them right now. I was in your boat 2 Months ago & now am rebuilding RBA's (rebuildable atomizer). You can set the Vamo @7/9 watt & forget it. When ordering from Vaporbreak get the clearomizer someone suggested & your good to go(except some juice). Remember you will need back-up's as soon as possible.Good luck.

Get an eGo-C Twist battery, a Vivi Nova tank and some e-liquids with high nicotine level, im talking 24mg.

I second this option. It's two steps up from the analog look alikes, and a step up from the regular eGo beginner kits, at a reasonable price. But most importantly, understand this is a journey, and the important part is to take the first step. Don't get overwhelmed, just take it one day at a time. You'll figure it out along the way.

I gotta agree too. The ego spinner was OK for me too. Did a decent job. But, having variable wattage, battery meter, resistance checker, big battery capacity, and all the other latest and greatest goodies, along with enough power to melt down a carto if you want, for 50 bucks or so? Hell ya! The Vamo rocks. The segelei is a bit nicer in finish, but won't do anything the Vamo won't.... well, except mate up super smooth with a Zenesis. Yeah.... for the money spent and the time saved, I'd go with the Vamo, or Segelei.
