Hi all, hoping someone can help me.

I took delivery of my starter pack on Thursday, I spent yesterday charging the batteries and reading through the book which was basic and not so helpful!

This morning I put my e cig together and was disappointed. Firstly, it tastes nothing like a real cigarette, all i could taste was what seemed like burnt plastic. When I inhaled for the first 2 seconds or so it sounded like air was escaping from somewhere, then the end lit up and I exhaled a tiny bit of vapour! Am I doing something wrong?

I got the e cig so I could cut down on smoking but think I have smoked more today from the frustration of it all lol.

I have had a quick glance through the threads but am getting confused with talk of atomisers, 901's etc.

Can somebody give me some tips/advice please :)

This is a very good point. You wouldn't be the first person to be trying to smoke the empty cart that comes assembled on the atomiser. My partner did the same thing and was very disappointed. He had a supermini (the one that looks like a real cigarette).
If this is what has happened, you need to put that top to one side and take a fresh cartridge from the box of cartridges that is usually supplied, for the ecig and see what happens then.
Do you know what sort of ecigarette you have?

OK. In your starter pack you'll have got the full piece and the spare battery. The full piece consists of three parts: the battery, which you've charged by the sound of it, the atomiser (the bit the battery screws into) and a cap on the non-battery end of the atomiser.

That is a blank cap which you need to remove and replace with one of the cartridges from the box you'll have also got in your starter kit.

If you've done all that and still can't get any vapour then it sounds like either your atomiser or battery is faulty, in which case contact your supplier.

Not knowing what you are smoking it is hard to say what problem is. Does your e cig look like a cig or does it look like a pen. Go to one of the suppliers web sites to identify what cig you are smoking. That will give us a better idea what may be the problem. Also did you buy directly from china?

Hi Chances, welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately ecigs do not taste like tobacco smoke. Many have tried to find that elusive taste and few have reported success. This is a different habit, if you can get your head around trying something new you will probably get to like esmoking pretty soon. Many of us didn't like it at first but prefer it now.

You need to develop a technique for vaping. Take slow, long draws to allow the atomiser to vapourise the eliquid from the cartridge. You might want to try using a quick primer draw to get the atomiser going and then take a smooth, long draw. The light on the battery will indicate whether you are drawing hard enough, if the light is on it is heating your atomiser.

Check inside your atomiser to make sure that you haven't accidently inserted a little plastic seal that some cartridges have onto the wire mesh. Make sure there is nothing plastic in there.

When you use a new atomiser you get a taste of primer eliquid that is meant to protect the atomiser from drying out. That taste will dilute and go away as you vape. You could also try changing cartridges, sometimes they can taste odd.

Do you have any eliquid? The prefilled cartridges don't taste very nice compared to the stuff you can buy to refill them.

Don't think I will get used to the taste tbh, its too plasticy and its leaving a horrible taste in my mouth..

u cant judge the e smoking experience with just one e cig.. some are total rubbish..

sounds like u have one that is.. but e smoking aint for all.. u have to have a valid reason for doing it.. it does some things but in a true side by side comparison it dosnt replicate a real cigarette... only if u want it to..
