Help please.

I stripped the head of the spring screw while trying to install the new repair kit. Not too big a deal, just installed the upgrade on my older reo instead. That screw came out easily. Is there a way to drill this one out? Does it need a trip back to Maine? I only have a few basic tools.

I'd say grab a vice grip or some good pliers and turn it from the top......and then order a replacement or two

Try to tap a screwdriver or allen into it, be careful not to tap against the fire button. You should be able to get it out that way but will probably need to order an extra (or 2).

No, just a cheap screwdriver. Like i said, i was able to get it out of my other grand with no problem. This one was just stuck like super glue.

Edit. I think it got stripped when my 14yo's friend tried to loosen it. Can't blame the kid for trying to help. It wouldn't budge at all.

If it's still in there, try turning the spring itself to break the screw loose, then you should be able to extract it with a good screwdriver, maybe one that's a bit larger than was originally used.

If you can't get it out, go to your local hardware store and buy the smallest size EZ Out. They work very well on stripped Phillips or Allen heads.

I had a screw that was evil on a grand recently as well. When it finally gave the green paint came with the screw like it was wet assembled maybe. Or it could have heat fusioning.

Use a flat head screwdriver and move the actual spring square a quarter of a turn even counter clockwise - your screw will come right out then. I had the SAME issue - but thankfully gave up and found this before I totally stripped it.
