I have a iTaste VTR with a Kanger Nano and have the 1.2ohm coil in the Kanger.

The VTR has settings of:
Watt: 3-15
Volt: 3-6
set resistance of 1.2 (1.2ohm) from the tank.

I looked up as many charts and forums as I could to find how I could produce the best tasting and biggest clouds I could without harming the coil or cotton.
I used calculators and found that 4-4.2 volts and around 13-15 watts works very well for making big clouds and still has good taste, but when I looked up what is the "prime" settings for good vapor and taste it said 3 volts and 7.5 watts which doesnt produce that much vapor at all but does still taste good.

is it ok to run my VTR settings at 4.2 volts and 14.5 watts?

PS. I researched the batteries I bought and they are all top notch and safe for the way I want to vape.

I was also thinking about buying a ipv mini so I could get 30 watts instead of only 15, would this be a good idea for what I am looking for?

You can't set watts and volts I think is what Larry was trying to say.. Setting watts will boost or buck your voltage to reach the desired wattage. Set your volts and the wattage will automatically adjust :)

The charts you were looking at were probably designed for early single coils. Different gauge wire shines at different wattages. Dual coils change things a bit too. It's really complicated imo, but steam-engine.org has a good write up on it - heat flux I believe is the correct term for the reaction.

So i wanna use it at 15watts but I know the airflow makes a big difference (on Kager, 1 hole, 2 hole, open). I prefer the open i like the feeling of it, but some hits taste weird, could that be from taking in too much air? It tastes really strong with the 1 air hole with a hard pull but i feel the need to pull hard with 15 watts and end up getting juice in my mouth sometimes, also i feel like im going to burn the cotton.

i have the vtr and i use a kanger aerotank with 1.8 coils at 11 watts, i also have an itaste 134 which i use at the same wattage for my aero and my aspire nautilus mini, in my opinion the nautilus gives more flavour and slightly more vapour at the same wattage on both devices due to it's vertical coil, if you use the nautilus on the vtr you will need to sand the inside of the top ring to get it to fit or cut it off completely

More air flow will also cool the coil while you vape meaning you can take longer pulls and get more vapour.
The coil can over heat faster with less air flow and then taste burnt. Don't over do it and burn the stuffing or you'll need to replace the coil.

Once you find your sweet spot you shouldn't change anything, It doesn't matter what anyone says or what the wattage is. It needs to be set to your taste, and you are the only one that knows how it tastes.

If it tastes bad turn down the power and/or open up the air flow. Or just take shorter pulls. Cheers.

yepper, can’t say it any better than they all did
but saying it different maybe could help…

volts & watts are there so YOU can choose which to use (never both)
you choose and set ONE (the other auto follows suit-Ohms Law)

which ever one you choose to use, remember the device will
ONLY go as high as which either limit is reached first…

I’d suggest to only use watts, for now…
8W is pretty safe to start and kinda auto adj…
just start at 8W ; vape awhile then climb the watts scale
if you get to 15W and are still not satisfied (and no burnt taste)
then you’ll know you need/want a higher output device...

this calc won’t tell WHERE to vape, but you’ll get familiar with what’s going on
- Watts - volts - amps - ohms conversion calculator

same deal with AIR
start low (closed) and open as you feel the best vape for you

:)

Hi there i was wondering if anyone could help, i tried to post on the itaste vv thread but it wouldn't let me as I've just signed up. Any way I purchased an innokin itaste vv 3 weeks ago and have been getting on great with it, however, since yesterday it wont let me change the volts, now it only lets me change the watts. whether i press the plus or minus and the power button it only lets me change the watts e.g P8.0 not U4.0. this is really annoying as the voltage setting its on, is a little high and tastes burnt. A friend of mine who i bought the exact same itaste for is still able to change the voltage and as i previously said it was only yesterday when it stopped letting me change the volts. any help and suggestions would be great, many thanks.

Throw away the charts.

Your tastebuds will show you the way.

The VTR is a regulated device with built in safety so it's hard to get into any serious trouble with it. I think the latest versions on will not fire below 0.8 Ohms so that is a limiting factor as well.

You want to blow bigger clouds.
1) Research and study
2) Buy yourself a more capable device
3) Stick with regulated devices if you decide NOT to do #1

so to switch from V / W on iTaste VVv3

hold 'plus' then push/hold fire button

And WAIT TILL IT SWITCHES TO WATTS

- - -

then hold 'minus' then push/hold fire button

and again WAIT till it switches to volts

+ / FIRE = WATTS

- / FIRE = VOLTS

yeh i got the VTR for it's ability to check ohms (for self built coils) and it's neat size for carrying around and in the car, i was happy with the clouds over my ego device when i got it but over time i have craved bigger clouds and i now use a dripper and mech mod when indoors, i would get used to the VTR for everyday use by trial and error then look into cloud chasing after you have a handle on the VTR the way you want it
