hello all, never thought I’d actually post on here but here we go. I bought the ijoy capo squonk, i built on it. Had a .45 ohm dual coil Clapton set up. The problem is, it takes forever to take a hit. Doesn’t matter if i have it on 60w or 100w. So i rebuilt with 26g regular kanthal. Dual coil again at .78 ohm. Still takes forever. I understand that this mod limits the battery to 4.2v. I would like a build that allows a quick hit with no “heat up period”. I prefer a dual coil build. Thank you to anyone that helps. I’m stuck

Hi Kristian. For faster ramp time, think smaller diameter wire. I use Stainless 316 wire pretty exclusively, but I don't have any ramp time troubles with 28 or 30 ga wire in the .5-.7Ω range, even with an Old Skool mech mod, never mind a regulated that can hit 60 watts. I often do dual builds-- I like them too-- but sometimes singles as it helps with battery life in a mech. Still, I think if you try some smaller diameter wire you'll gain some ramp time easily. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

You can get the wire at Lighting Vapes, 316L or SS in claptons 28/36ga. Wrap them at 2.5mm 7 to 8 wraps single coil, and you will love the results

I found that with single battery hitters vaping low ohm builds, dual builds or the fancy multiwire builds the single battery can't push enough out especially if its a older batt or worse yet clone or counterfeit batts. Cheap batts other than what mooch recommends for the build to fire properly don't have enough knards even using a mod, your still at the mercy of your battery with or without a regulated mod. Even a new batt begins to loose its perk sooner or later. Its taking too long to ramp up the clapton builds and by the time they heat up enough nothing left in the battery for your vape. That can be solved a bit by taking a couple smaller vapes to warm up the coil before the vape thus the battery recoups a little between the smaller hits so the coil is nice and hot to take a good vape or blow down some till a nice plumb comes out the airflow then take your vape.
You need a 2 or 3 or 4 battery mod to fire those dual claptons efficiently. 1 battery mods really begin to fail after 40 watts unless you have a supply of new batts, the older batts loose their kick ramping up so really crap out when the power is needed. Same with internal battery mods, the batteries are questionable to begin with and once the battery dies and don't hold charge you have to toss a perfectly working hitter.

The Capo Squonk (as I understand it) can't boost the voltage. So for Most people, it is just like using a Single Battery Mech Mod. And Single Battery Mech Mods have a Hard Time driving High Mass Dual Coils.

As suprtrkr and Alter mentioned, Smaller Diameter Wire is going to have a Faster Ramp-Up than a Larger Diameter/Multiple Wire build.

Also, NiChrome 80 Ramps-Up Faster than Kanthal. And SS Ramps-Up Faster than NiChrome 80. So I would suggest getting some 26ga and some 28ga SS Wire and try them.

As mentioned build lower.
I have a dual Clapton ss build on mine at .13 and yes there is a ramp delay. I however was anticipating this when I built it.
I overcome it by firing for like a 2 count before I take a draw. That allows it to heat up, not ideal but it will work.
I plan to go back to simple round wire builds to overcome the ramp time but am holding off as I ordered some new single coil rda's.
Good kuck.

If this mod is unable to boost the voltage you must lower the resistance of the coil to increase the wattage. A resistance of 0.78 would max out just over 22 watts with a fully charged battery, a resistance of 0.45 would max out about 39 watts. Unable to boost the voltage the mod can't increase wattage beyond what the battery voltage is. You must build below 0.2 to get the wattage up in the higher ranges (0.2 would max out about 88 watts with a full charge.)

Hello all, I did not see it say anywhere to use a .15 build. Regardless i got a .2 build and it works wonders now. Thank you everyone
Welcome and glad you joined.
Looks like your getting it. The heat flux number ( lower/faster response time ) can be changed when coil properties are adjusted to desired parameters.
