What am I doing wrong any suggestions?

Your NOT doing ANYTHING wrong!!
I was in the very same situation you were in myself just two weeks ago..
Those last few cigarettes...let me tell ya, it's hard letting go.

I actually, as a 'newbie' myself started another thread because for the life of me, I couldn't let go of those last few. The anxiety alone was more than I could take.
Here is a link to that thread. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/643653-i-am-taking-back-control.html

Now, I'm not sure how much you were originally smoking prior to cutting down, but the 12mg that your currently using may very well be too low...especially as you make this initial transition.
I was smoking 2 packs a day, full flavor...I started with 24mgs, but it was too strong (made me cough), so I went down to 18mg of nicotine and this is the level of nicotine I'm currently using.

There are no two ways about it..putting those last few ciggs down is probably the hardest thing you will ever do BUT...there will come a time, I promise you, that you will decide to take that final leap of faith and put the last few ciggs down for good.

Good luck to you and congrats for cutting back, that is a HUGE achievement in itself. ((HUGS))

Best of luck to you! I've had good success with WTAs when a hard craving hits. I got some from Aroma, and they do a nice job on the flavor. The other thing I do when I really need an analog is to grab my vape and sit down and read the forum. I use it as my support network to help remind me of what I'm doing and the fact that others have done it too. Everyone's journey follows a different road, but the most important part is to keep taking the next step...

A lot of good advice already to which I would only add:

I think you commented/questioned the flavor of your juice somewhere earlier. Keep up your search for that great flavor you cherish so the urge is for another toke on that flavor rather then a nic fix. Until then, don't sweat having that decreasingly necessary cig.

Good luck and happy :vapor:!

I will add my story it may help you.

I started with a ciggy like with a light on the end and prefilled carto's. from the day I received the kit, I did not touch another cig. 6mgs is what I was using. When I went to reorder a week later they were out of stock. yep, started smoking again for another year. (I had smoked 2 packs aday for 40 years). And believe me had no desire to quit. Just did not like the way I was feeling.

Second try was an epower 14650, and ordered 5 sample bottles of juice, tobbaco flavor (which they are not) picked the one that was the best out of the bunch and been using that ever since. Yep, grow to like it. I can not do rootbeer, cherry, ect all day.

After three months of smoking (one pack a day) and vaping, the day finally came when I realized I did not have a cigerette all day, then it became two days, a week, a year and so on. Every now and again I would bum a cig off of someone, maybe once a month during the transition.

So it really varies for everyone. And the devices are so much better now, you don't have to charge batteries all day long now, adjustable power ect.

Now its been 4 years can not smoke a cig anymore makes my head spin and heart race, like I am going to pass out. Amazing after 40 years of smoking?

Don't think about how much you are smoking reg cigs. Just have one when you want and hopefully the day will come when you realize you went a whole day without smoking, from that point on its gets easy.

I have also wondered if we get addicted to the chemicals in them as well, if so that might be part of the struggle.

Good luck and just stay with it.

I tried ecigs a few times in a few years and never could give up the smokes. This past October, in a lark, I just went in to a brand new store on my grocery store route, bought 3 ecig kits (ego, very simple, nothing fancy, really cheap for grand opening) and higher nic liquid. I never touched another smoke. For me, it was getting the higher nic juice. I tended to chain vape so I kept 1 ecig with higher nic and two with lower nic so I could chain vape the lower and not get dizzy and nauseated. I vaped the higher nic at least once an hour for a few weeks. Then I chain vaped the lower nic the rest of the time. That seemed to help the cravings. I also kept to my usual smoking routine -- I work at home online so every hour I was out on the deck with the dogs to smoke for 10 min. I still do that but I vape instead (and I also vape inside!!). Just a few ideas that might help. Keep trying. I tried 3-4 times before it stuck.

one other thought.

I now use a tank, but in the beginning I used a cartomizer, smok tech mega xl. There is something about that size, the draw and that fiber taste, that is close to pulling on a real cig. I used 1.7 ohm at 7.5 Watts.

I just tried one now. They have a flat tip, alot different feel then a tank almost tricks your brain.

I think you certainly need a higher strength by the sounds of things. I use a 18mg which seems to work well for me, but then everyone is different. A friend of mine was having a problem like you have and she decided to increase the nicotine and has finally managed to kick the ciggies for good, but it did take her time but she stuck with it and it worked out for her in the end.

Your set-up should be fine for now, now if your eyeballin a new rig just because it looks cool, well, sorry to say it, but your a vaper!;) Welcome to the club! Grab some higher nic juice, your emergency cash reserve, and a knowledgeable employee at your local store and try the setup you are thinking about getting! Good luck and vape on!

I don't have much to add here, apart from what I found really helped make the switch was mint/menthol juices. I really missed the throat-hit from cigarettes, and apart from when the cartos I was using at the time ran out, I wasn't getting enough of it. I tried a mint juice, and the coolness from that really helped.

Best of luck making the switch - it ain't easy, but (and you know this already, so I don't know why I'm mentioning it) it will be worth it :)

Update. Went and bought a second tank and attempted buy 24mg nicotine unfortunately the place I went to only had a very very small selection of 18 so I picked up two bottles. I have officially been cigarette free for 3 days. Chain vaping like a maniac though.

Good going. Buying lots of vape stuff is good motivation, I've found; you get the pleasure of the new toy to play with, and after you get a buttload of this stuff, you're like, well I can't go back to smoking now, I've got way too much invested in vaping! :D I hate wasting anything, but wasting cool vape gear would be the WORST! :D

hang tough!

Hi,after 30 yrs smoking I found myself in the same boat as you, what finally did it for me was when I started to build my own box mod and messing about with different coiling n wicking combinations, trying out the different juices and just basically have got right into vaping that I havent had a cancer stick for 8 days which for me is fantastic and feel that I dont want another one, although early days yet but just stick at it n you'll get there.
