New to ecf, side effects

I am wanting to quite smoking and bought an e-cigarette yesterday. I was given the 15ml bottle of 15mg nicotine (Lush, Simply Menthol). Right away I started with headaches and the inside of my mouth is irritated. I normally smoke between 10 and 13 cigarettes a day. Is the 15mg too strong for me? I usually light a cigarette and take a few puffs and then put it in a snuffer. Then I go back and take a few more puffs, etc. Since I'm not getting as much nicotine only smoking 10 to 13 cigarettes a day, I am worried that I could be getting way too much nicotine from the e-cigarette. Any input would be appreciated. I am currently still smoking real cigarettes a little (puff here and there).

Well, that's not good.

My first guess would be yeah, maybe you could tone down the nicotine. But, just as likely, you could have a PG sensitivity. Propylene Glycol is one of the primary ingredients in e-liquid, and a lot of people (a surprising number, really) have a PG sensitivity, or a mild PG allergy. The side effects of that can be throat irritation, itchiness, eyes burning.. Similar things to pollen allergies, really.

Important to know though:

What device are you vaping it in?

I was smoking a pack a day of ultra-lights, the same way you describe -- I bought 120mm's so I could "smoke them twice." I had to go all the way down to 6mg before I could vape regularly; both 18mg and 12mg made me very nauseous. Only smoking about a half-pack-ish daily, I'd suspect that 15mg is too strong -- even 12mg made me sick. But, once I quit the cigarettes, I had to go up a little; to 8mg, then 9mg, and lately I'm very comfortable around 10mg, and don't really chain vape as I was before.

more than likely your juice is the culprit to your dissatisfaction and symptoms, assuming of course, that your gear is working and wicking properly.

What is you VG/PG ratio of the juice??? Some have tolerance or allergies to VG or PG, plus there is the flavorings to look at also. To me, finding the right juice mix/ratio's is the most frustrating thing about getting ones vape on. I was all over the scale till I found high VG content was me preferred juice mix. Have been doing DIY juice mixing for over a year now, which makes tailoring ones purrfect juice so much easier. Not to mention the Vast Savings, one receives. :D So vast, can divert the savings into mod acquisitions :D and rba's too:lol:

hmm, 15 mg nic is not a usual % of juice options, but could happen. I now vape at 12 mg nic, but me gear and builds have improved dramatically, I had to drop it down from the 24 mg nic that it took to keep me from lighting up, back when I started with and ego & PT. Better the gear, the better the vape and nic delivery. :D

What e-cig, vaporizer, did you get?? and more importantly, what atomizer are you using to cook your juice with???

Vape Long and Prosper.!!!

Yes, it may be too high--try 12 mg/ml. Also, PG and VG are very hygroscopic and will dehydrate you very quickly if you don't drink enough water--or whatever you usually drink. Dry mouth, sore throat, and irritation are common symptoms new vapers experience. They usually go away if you remember to stay hydrated. Headaches are a common symptom of too much nicotine.

The Pg in the juice absorbs a lot of moisture from your mouth and body which is why you should drink more water than normal.

Also the VG is a natural dessicant. I find that particularly when I drip high VG, I need to keep a glass of water handy and go through the whole thing. To paraphrase the interesting guy, stay hydrated, my friend.
