I just picked up a 3post Phoenix V5 from fasttech and pulled it apart before studying the coils like an idiot. I could use some help on how exactly to rebuild them. Kanthal Wire gauge suggestions would be good as well. I have a multimeter for testing but I don't even know where to start on how to build and set up the coils on the post. I'm aiming for dual coil .8 ohm. Thanks in advance for any help.

Yea you need to do some serious research.

Ohms law
Batteries
Mods
Kanthal wire

Do not try vaping below 1 ohms unless you know what you are doing.

You need to know what your battery can handle.

You need to understand the dynamics if kanthal wire.

Ohms law, ohms law, ohms law!!!!!!!!

Last but not least, know your mod. Chrome plated, telescopic, china clones for the most part will not fit the bill. Too much current through a cheap switch isn't good. Things melt and short out.

I'd say with your V5 build 2 coils around 3 ohms x 2 will put you around 1.5 ohms. Make sure both coils are exactly the same resistance. 34 to 32g kanthal would be my suggestion on wire size for that build.

As you get more experience, knowledge and better gear you can go lower and lower...and not take your face off.

Last note, short out your ohm meter. There will be a natural resistance on your wires. It won't show 0 you you will have to deduct that from the measured total. Unless you have an analog meter which will have a ohms 0 adjust.

My suggestion is build on one side first. Make a 1.5-1.8Ω coil first. Get used to that. After you're good and happy with your coil building skills, move down to 1-1.3Ω. see if you like that. then make two 2Ω coils. Attach on both sides. Battery of choice for subΩ coils are the AW fambam. Even with those I dont like going lower than .7Ω to be safe.

Watch videos. A lot of them. Grimmgreen has a couple dual coil builds. pbusardo has a lot of them, Todd ecigreviews has a ton of them as well. Lurk in this forum. THEN venture down to subohmming.

The mod itself only has a .3 drop. It's built really well. Panasonic NCR18650PD are 10amp High Drain. .8 coils should pull ~4.6 amps. The batteries should handle. Can't do anything but try and throw it if it the firing button gets hot. Dual setup means I need two coils wired at 1.6. I figure a 3/4 wrap of .5mm flat kanthal would be around 1.7 ohm but I need to play with it first. I have this all planned out but I just have no idea how to actually connect the thing on a 3post lol.
