So, my V2 Economy starter kit came today. This is my first time vaping ever. I got a pack of Reds and a pack of Sahara with it. I love the taste of tobacco and hoped that these would taste at least somewhat similar to tobacco. I got both kinds in 0 nicotine.

Some of the carts were a little leaky and there was moisture in one of the rubber caps. I quickly wiped it off, then took a whiff. WHEW! This juice is strong-smelling and chemically, like a cheap candle.

Then I began vaping...

These things taste WEIRD. And not in a good way. First I tried Sahara... Vapor production was awesome, but it tastes like chemicals and burning cereal, with a hint of bananas. Eeeew...

I immediately took it off the battery and noticed that the end of the cartomizer and the battery were both damp. Is this normal? Is this causing the funky taste?

Tried the V2 Red, which was slightly better tasting, but not much--and the juice smells like expired fruit punch. Again, amazing vapor production, and again, dampness on the connector where it screws to the battery.

I tried it a few more times, thinking I just wasn't used to the flavor. But I couldn't take it. After several more puffs off of both flavors, the smell and taste were making me sick. The more I do it, the worse they taste.

What the hell is going on? Did I do something wrong? Or do these really just taste bad?

V2 flavors are so-so in my opinion, but i wouldn't put them in the horrible category and some are quite vapable.
with that said if you were expecting the taste of tobacco as smoker's know it, you're bound to be disappointed. i personally don't know of a single e-cig/e-liquid that tastes close to smoked tobacco, but more experienced vapors could very possibly prove me wrong.

If you're a smoker, you'll miss the nictotine, much more than you realize, even if it's not a "flavor". And not to discourage you from V2, but don't give up on vaping if this company/method doesn't work. You can see from the overwhelming amount of information here that there is more than one way to vape. If this one doesn't work, keep trying - it's worth it.

I tried V2's also, the cartridges don't hold much liquid to begin with and could already be dry and taste nasty if they leaked.
You could try opening the top and dripping some juice into the wicking material until you get a drop or two out of the bottom.

I'd return them get my $$$ back and try something different.
If you were a smoker 0 nicotine juice is going to be a very frustrating experience. I second the don't give up on vaping and return to smoking.

I should have clarified in my post that I'm probably not the "typical" vaper...

I don't smoke cigarettes. I smoke pipes and cigars. I don't inhale and I'm not addicted to nicotine. I do it purely for the aroma and flavor. Unfortunately, smoking (in any form) is unhealthy, and as much as I enjoy my pipe/cigar hobby, I want to cut back on them. But I still enjoy the ritual, taste, and aroma of smoking, so that's why I looked into e-cigs.

I guess I was hoping the cartridges would taste at least close to tobacco. Sadly, they're either terrible, or they're not working properly.

The good news out of this is, I have some blank V2 cartridges on the way, and I already have some premium e-juice from Want2Vape.com (their London blend) which is supposed to very closely mimic pipe tobacco, since it's extracted from pipe tobacco. It definitely smells a whole lot nicer.

Is there a way to drain the Sahara or Red cartridge I've opened and refill it with the London blend juice without having the flavor tainted?

Wow the vape gods had a good joke at your expense I guess, sorry you got such a raw deal right out of the gates. I started with the V2 as well and still use it as my work vape (at least till I get my ego set up sorted out) I've used literaly a hundred or more prefilled red/sahara cartomizers from them and not once had a leaking carto delivered. Your right about them not tasting anything like tobacco but they got me through till I started filling my own cartos and clearamizers. Still haven't found a good tobacco flavor that I like yet, but finding so many other interesting tastes out there that I'm not too worried about it.

As for refilling and using the prefilled cartos you have, it is possible but most likely way more trouble than it's worth. Unless they changed since last time I got a batch, the V2's come with the hard plastic tips glued on, or maybe it's just a really tight press fit, but either way very hard to get off. If your really determined to try it though there are several videos on youtube about refilling cartomizers, and I think I saw something about getting the hard caps off too, maybe someone else knows for sure and can post you a link to it.

In my personal opinion Reds taste like theres no flavor, Sahara isn't so far off a camel turkish that you couldn't vape it but could be better. menthol isnt bad. The good thing about v2 is warranty. when your battery goes bad and oh it will you call and they say ok we're sending you new ones. they haven't harrassed me about not sending back my bad ones back yet. you have to pay for return shipping but oh well. i've kept them for spares because i've gone through so many. 1 month return policy on a kit btw. oh and one auto battery failed and kept the light on. no power to the carto and the tip lit constantly. didn't get warm or anything. then the led blew. that one is sitting on my dresser and has been for 2 weeks. they're good to deal with. they've never questioned me on anything. I said "All my batteries are failing. PCC and both cigs" CS guy said "Sorry to here that we'll get your replacements sent out right away." I can't really knock them too bad after how they've dealt with me. The downfall is their cartos. if ordering blanks, order from someone else. Just make sure you get the right thread

actually mine all leaked too. thats when i started filling. they have new blanks you can get the cap off with your fingernail but they have a very short useful life in my opinion

I started with V2s about a month ago. The company tends to overfill their cartos with juices. You could be tasting burnt juice on the battery.

1. Wipe clean your battery including threads and in-between space where the battery connects to the cartos. I wedged a napkin in there.
2. Gently blow out from the white tip a few time to remove excess juice. Use a napkin as a guide. Then wipe off the bottom of the carto.

The V2 carts are pretty decent and last quite a few refills. Don't throw them out. Search here or on Youtube on how to properly clean or refill them.

+1 keep searching, you will find one you like, I would clean everything up, give your juice a good shake and drip 3 drops right on the coil, that should rule out most things, shouldn't get a burned taste from a new atty, maybe the juice went bad in the heat, again don't give up looking, it will be one if the best choices you've made

That doesn't work on a carto, which they are using.

Atties and cartos are totally different setups.
