vaping disaster!!!

Tonight I visited a vapor store in my area. I wanted to try some new juices and wanted to see if they had 808 cartos (they didn't).

The guy there was extremely nice and offered to let me try some of their juices. I agreed. He gave me a tobacco juice, I vaped it.

First problem: I've been vaping 0 nicotine cartos from the start. I forgot to ask for no nicotine when he gave it to me, so by the time I was puffing on it, I realized I was puffing 11mg strength. My nostrils burned horribly and I got woozy instantly. No fun, but not his fault.

Second problem: It tasted HORRIBLE. I didn't say anything other than, "hmm, interesting..." but all I could taste was an indistinct, sharp, heavy chemical taste.

He offered to give me a few more. I ended up vaping 5 flavors, and while they were all slightly different, they all carried that heavy, weird chemical taste that I simply cannot find words to describe other than maybe what I imagine burning styrofoam must taste like. I thanked him for the trial tastes and told him "I had to think about it".

I went home and quickly began vaping my V2 cartos to get that nasty chemical taste out of my memory. Now, all I have currently are V2 Reds, V2 Sahara, and blank V2 cartos filled with London Blend. When I first tried the Reds and the Sahara, I hated them-- but within a day they had grown on me until I was able to enjoy them. So I sat down to vape, and then...

OH NO!! They all taste like that same chemical!!

Apparently my brain has now thoroughly associated that chemical-- whatever it is-- with the word "nasty". Now my cartos, especially the V2 Red, taste absolutely nothing like they did a few hours ago. A few hours ago, they tasted fine. Now, somehow my tastebuds can only detect that foul, heavy chemical taste that I experienced in the vape shop.

What happened!? Has this ever happened to anyone!? It has completely ruined my vaping experience!!

Please help!

Hi Calam - what a yucky time you had. Vaping can be very weird when it comes to taste. My favorite flavor can taste different from hour to hour sometimes, depending on what I've had to eat, drink, the cat walked by, the phone rang... There is no rhyme or reason. You may love a flavor now and hate it next week.

You haven't ruined it forever, just maybe for tonight. Drinking lots of water can help - but it's unfortunate you don't have any flavorless juice, or one with a super light taste. Oddly, I have found Coca Cola - the real brand with a bite to it, not generic cola - sometimes "resets" my sense of taste. Here are some other suggestions too: Taste Buds and Vapers Tongue

Oh wow. I have never had that happen, but I do vape with nicotine. I wonder that's what you were tasting?

I tend to just lose the taste altogether as opposed to tasting chemicals. There have been a few flavors I tried that had a perfumey taste. Kinda like tasting cologne. Chemically, perfume, nasty. I associated that taste to a few venders and juices, and steered clear of em. Steeping never seemed to help.

Would you describe the flavor like that? Floral, perfume, chemical? Maybe try resetting your palate and not vape as long as you can stand. Perhaps your taste buds will reset and everything will go back to normal.

Wish you the best. Hope it works out for ya.

Ocelot, I sure hope you're right about it just tasting bad for tonight, because if this keeps up, I'll have to stop vaping entirely. It's unbearable. :(

I'm kind of curious why would you spend the money that v2 costs to vape 0mg juice.

Not sure what you mean. V2 cartos and juice don't cost really any more than any other cartos or juice that I can find...? I'm trying to cut back on pipe/cigar smoking and need something to replace to habit and taste of smoking. I'm not in this for nicotine.

You are not alone. Because I live in Thailand it is hard to get e-juice past customs. That means I have to buy Dekang brand. I have been vapeing for about 7 weeks using only Dekang. I took a trip to Bangkok to do some shopping. I happened upon a small nick nack shop that sold the look a like icing (looks like an analog) It turns out the shop operator had some e-juice on hand. I bought the one that were labeled 555 and Virginia. When I fired them up. It was great. I loved both of them. When I went back to my Dekang. Bam the Chem flavor was overwhelming. I think what is going on here. Is are taste buds returning to a normal state. They are no longer being coated with tar and 4000 other chemicals. This experience we both are having I think is very common. Why do you think there 10,000 style/flavors of e-juice out there. The only way to fix this is to just keep trying different e-juice until you find the ONE. LOL!!!

I am new to vaping/getting off cigarettes and find this happens to me at random fairly frequently. I have found eating a hot pepper (a thai chili usually) really helps - although I should mention I was eating hot peppers before all this so if they are new to you you might want to start with something less fiery like a jalapeno or habernero.

Hang in there - your taste will return!

Funny you should mention Thai red chilis. Before starting vapeing. My old lady would put a ton of chilies in the food she made me. Now that my taste buds are back to normal. She has had to cut way back on them.

I do find they have much more of a burn now - but since I started eating them to assist with pain control (get that endorphin rush plus the distraction factor) the extra bite now is just an added bonus! Do find I have cut way back on salt etc though.

Ok, so I haven't vaped since last night. I'm going to give it a shot this morning and hope it doesn't still have that taste.

I'm starting with Sahara, since that seems to have the least amount of this chemical taste I'm getting. No problems so far... It definitely tastes 'different', which I can't understand why, but I'm not getting that putrid chemical aftertaste or smell.

Now for V2 Red...

Vaping.. vaping...

Eeh... It tastes like it used to in my mouth, but if I exhale out my nose I get that whiff of chemicals again. It's not quite as bad though.

That is just so strange! That guy's stupid juice has ruined my nose for V2 Red!

Several hours later, same problem. None of my cartos taste good any more. They all taste like plastic.

This has totally ruined me for vaping. Whatever chemical the guy in the shop was using is also present in my V2 cartos, because that's now all I can really detect. I should get a few juices in the mail tomorrow, and I'll try those out-- hopefully they'll be better, otherwise I guess I'm back to the cigars...
