V2 is an ok way to start, many of us, including myself, got our introduction to eCigs through them. Not many stick with them over the long haul though. V2 carts can be bought as refillables (the blanks) or you can buy any cartridge that's a blank KRD808-1 thread. If you're not a typical vaper, just for the flavor at 0 nic (and yes I know people like that), then you won't be dismayed that the small battery won't last long. For nic fiends, sucking away at the battery will kill it in no time. My cartridges furthermore lasted only a day if that when I bought from V2. It wasn't the 1 pack or 3/4 pack or whatever they promised, by far. V2 does have pretty good customer service. They are quick to reply "mea culpa" and credit you or whatever solution they provide. The problem arises too with delayed shipping though, and constant out of stocks. I'd order a flavor and even though it was "in stock" I would get an email that they didn't have it. Furthermore, for what you are buying, their pre-filled cartos are overpriced. You can get a better value for your money with your own bottles and blank cartos.

Now you also mentioned disappointment in the tobacco flavoring. The thing about eCigs, when most of us start is that we want to replicate the taste of a cigarette. Well the taste also includes ash (yuck!) etc. No eCig is going to get it quite the way you expect; nevertheless there are good tobacco flavors out there. There are even vendors who sell natural tobacco extract liquids, not just flavorings. When I started out, I even tried menthol because I smoked menthols. Well I hate vaping the stuff! I love flavors though and have probably 20 bottles in rotation right now - fruits, desserts, tobacco blends, caramels etc... taste is so subjective and you learn as you go along what you like and don't like. You can buy from any vendor recommended on ECF, and put their juice in a refillable V2 carto. That's my recommendation for starters. Keep at it. Don't be discouraged by this experience that doesn't meet your expectations. At least you don't have a "habit" but eCigs are enjoyable enough that you can see, for so many of us it's a hobby.

LiteCigUSA has good prices, fast shipping and sells my personal favorite juices by Nite Lite Vapor. Bounty Hunter is my all day vape. NLV has a huge following on ECF.

Add a syringe

and here's just one recommendation on juices. I am vaping NLV Gold right now which is a tobacco blend.

There are many choices when it comes to vendors but I thought I'd throw in a one-stop shop idea to get you started off and keep it simple.

That doesn't work on a carto, which they are using.

Atties and cartos are totally different setups.
Sorry of course, I'm thinking of the wrong thing, when I ordered my dct (i assume it works in the same way as a carto)I primed it according to the instructions and it was grim from the get go, I have been told since that sometimes you get a bad one and to give one another go, might love my nova a little too much though :-/

I think V2 cartos taste nasty too.
The only one I liked was the mint tea.
I'm also an ex cigar smoker.
I would return the kit. I started with South Beach.
Tried V2 flavors with their adaptor.
You might like Jet Cigs.
Apple Medley is a hookah type flavor.
Perique Tobacco is a pipe flavor.
Classic Tobacco tastes like a Nat Sherman.
You can buy their starter kit for $15.
