Hi Guys

This is my first post here. I have been lurking for quite a while lol!

So i quiet cigs about 12 months ago and started vaping. I bought an EGO starter kit and some 75% PG 25% VG liguid form a local vendor. Everything was great and i managed to go months without even thinking about a cig. On the odd occassion i got dry skin under my eyes - kind of around my cheek bones but a little cream and it was sorted.
I then started to really get into vaping and i got a VTR / MVP / VAMO and loads of tanks and also started using a 50 50 brand of liquid which was great for a few months then all of a sudden BANG!!!! I started to get a fuzzy head and crazy burning sensations on my face as well as really bright red skin irritations and spots - again around my cheek bones / under my eyes. So i went on an exploration to try and work it out! I have tried 100% VG Organic from Virgin Vapour, 50 50 from a few diff vendors and even 95%PG! As far as i can tell it happens no matter what im using which just seems really really really odd to say the least. Im at my wits end with it and the worst thing is i love vaping and i really dont want to quit. Im wondering if anyone on here has had this issue and has managed to work out what the heck is going on and how to resolve it....

Any advice / help would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks

Hi Dru and welcome!
Are you drinking plenty of water? Vaping (as you may already know) will dehydrate you. And sometimes really quickly.

Maybe dehydration is causing your skin afflictions.

When you switched to the 100% VG how long did you stick with that exclusively? It may take several weeks of vaping 100% VG before you really notice changes.

Sometimes the allergies are related to the flavoring, not the base. Do certain flavors exacerbate your symptoms?

I dont think so - i have been using all sorts of flavours including basic menthol and tobacco only ones. Im not great with aspartame - its the only allergy i have that im aware off. If i eat sugar free gum or drink diet coke i would be covered in hives withiin 12 hours

You may need to revisit the allergies questions with a professional. Allergies aren't a black & white thing. They can develop at any age/time in your life and allergy to new stuff, even things you have been long exposed to, just happens.

Since this is skin conditions problems you are having, yeah - as Fishee said you have to give it more than a few days. The people I know who had skin related reactions to PG - sounding very much like what you are describing - saw improvement in the acne in about a week.

To really test this out you really should go the Full Monty and minimize the "what if's": Get a couple bottles of unflavored liquids at your usual nic level - one in 100 PG and one in 100 VG and test the waters. When you try this go unflavored and get the possibility of a reaction to a flavoring component out of the way too. If things improve - or get worse - with one or the other you found your answer.

Don't be afraid of unflavored. It's actually a better vape than it sounds. A lot of us vape unflavored as a mainstay or just to get away from flavor chasing for a while.

What did you Change when the Problems Started.

New e-Liquid?
New Flavor?
New mg?
New Cartos?
New Coils?
Diet Change?
Stress Change?

Seems like if you where Plodding along with No Real Problems and then BANG, Problem. That something should have Triggered it?

I was tbh. I was using a basic clearo and ego battery for a long while then got a kanger evod vv and a protank 3. Then a vtr and aerotank. Do u really think a change in hardware would / could contribute?

Stress and diet the same. I train 3 times a week and I am in good health as far as I know lol.

I think I need 100% pg and 100% vg and give both an independent run then see what happens and use all unflavoured to see if flavour is an issue.

What a mine field.

Try Both the 100% PG and VG. But Try the VG 1st.

Some People are Sensitive to PG. But Very Few are Sensitive to VG.

BTW - Have you changed Soaps or Shampoos?

I know that Certain Soaps like Dial make me Itch and Break Out in a Mild Rash.

What level of nicotine are you vaping??? when vaping there is a tendancy to vape more than we used to actually smoke, and a tendancy to choose a higher nic level than we may actually need to fight the cravings. It might be too much nicotine.

Wow!! I just checked and I smoked Mayfair smooth which is 0.6mg Nic. I have been vaping 1.8!!!! I wonder if the delivery is similer. Obv 0.6mg liquid dosnt give the real cig throat hit. Now this is interesting.

Typically you absorb less nicotine with each puff than you do with a cigarette, BUT... 1.8 which equates to 18mg is pretty high. Try cutting down, or buying some with lower nic to alternate with so you aren't steadily vaping 18mg all day long. That might be your problem. It caused trouble for me way back when I first started.

Keep the 18 (1.8) juice for those times when you are feeling edgy or seem to need an extra boost to stay off the stinkies. :)

Also, if you are missing throat hit increase the pg level of the juice, but to start out I'd try a 70vg/30pg mix to see if it is good for you, and go from there.

Cigarettes mg is Measured by How Much Nicotine the Average Smoker Absorbs into their Body when they Smoke One Cigarette. e-Liquids mg is Measured by the Total Amount of Nicotine in 1 ml.

They use Two Different Scales of Measurement. So it is Difficult to Equate the mg in a Cigarette to the mg in a e-Liquid.

18mg/ml e-Liquid isn't all that Uncommon. So I wouldn't be Too Concerned if that is what you Started with (when there were No Real Problems) and that is what you use Now.

18 isn't 'that' high, but I know that my problem with high nic levels took several months to show up, so it can't be said for sure that's not the problem. It's worth looking into is all.

I do Agree. Nothing should be Ruled Out.

But if the Problem Happened Very Suddenly, I would try to Rule out Sudden Changes like a New Flavor or Using a New type of Soap or Skin Product First.

It's just Hard to Know or Tell what is Going On when one reads a Post on a Forum. But I do like Steve's Idea of thinking about seeing a Dermatologist.

The other thing I should have mentioned was that say I don't vape it dies down then as soon as I start tooting bang it flares up. I'm definately thinking try pure vg pure pg no Nic high Nic flavour no flavour etc and see what happens.

Other interesting thing is this. I was in England in business and the guy I was with had 2.4mg socialite liquid in a basic ego starter kit. I vaped away on it and it was great. When I came home I got the same juice only 1.8 but I used it in a bdc on a kanger vv battery and had the worst headache in history. Someone mentioned earlier about the setup. I'm wondering if the huge vapour production on the more advanced equip is firing mammoth amounts of nicotine I to me whereas my friends 3.7v basic setup wasn't - on his a small tank lasted us all night but on my setup u could vape a tank in 10 minutes.

Then this to me Pretty Much Rules Out a Soap or something Else you are putting on your Skin.

Try the 100% VG. The Try the 100% PG. And No Flavor would Rule out a Flavor Issue.
