I'm trying to determine (in the most scientific way I can afford!) whether saliva pH affects nicotine absorption from vaping. Sounds wonky, but if all or part of the nicotine from an e-cig is absorbed through the mouth and/or throat, pH is a very important factor. This is why oral tobacco companies (Swedish snus, chewing tobacco, dip) carefully adjust the pH of their products to reach a target nicotine absorption level.

And yes, the difference is huge! Consider that an 8mg snus portion might have only about 4mg of usable nicotine if the pH is 8.0, but 6.5mg if the pH is 8.5.

Since I can't afford to mail out hundreds of pH strips to forum members, I'm tallying up how well people seem to absorb nicotine and the pH level of what people typically drink while vaping.

Anyway, there's not much traffic in the Nicotine sub-forum, so I've posted this here to attract more responses to the poll. I think this is information that could be helpful to everyone trying to solve the mystery of why the e-cig works so well for some but never satisfies others. There may also be an article in it, if I get a decent number of responses; I'm a successful freelance writer and editor with several long-term clients, one of which is a household name.

Here's a link to the poll:

Thanks!
