After much reading (and smoking a few cigarettes for "testing") I think I'm twisting the catridges and breaking the wires. I roll the filter around in my fingers when I smoke a real cigarette and I think that's what I'm doing with the ecig. 8-o
I've been using a 901 since March and I'm only on my 5th atty. I don't rotate - I use 1 exclusively until it dies. I only blow it out about every week or so. I top off my cartridges and keep the atty really wet.
I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I stopped using the oem batteries, and went strictly to mods around June - mainly because of battery life. But I found my atomizer performed much better after that.

Yeah, definitely don't twist your cartridge once it's attached to the atomizer.
You can easily snag the filler on the wire mesh on the bridge of the atomizer
1) You might pull the filler out when you remove the cartridge
2) You might get fibers stuck to the atomizer bridge
3) Worst case you might even break off that wire mesh
