Hubby n' me received our last shipment of 'supplies' today, and after lurking/learning for months (and vaping for a month) we're having our first "diy party" tonight! ('Not to worry, thanks to all your great advice, we're not going crazy and mixing up multiple flavors - we're sticking with 'singles' - they'll be as close to 100% VG as possible, with the addition of water/alc).

But I need to order some kind of atty, clearo/carto gizmo for tasting just a few drops of each of these flavors 'as they steep' (we're going to be keeping copious notes ;)). We've got eGo-c Twists (1000 mAH) and lil' kr808ds. We normally vape with the Twist & Vivi mini's (2.8). but we've also got some cheap clearos & cartos that we've used (not liking them much since we got the Vivi's - and there's a couple of bottom coil Kanger eVods on the way - which we're hoping will out-vape the Vivi's).

But none of those seem suitable for testing just a few drops and then switching flavors (dozens of times). So after pulling out the fiber in a couple of cartos (as many have suggested) and having them leak all over the place with just 2-3 drops, I thought we'd try atty's with drip tips, and got these yesterday (along with a couple of cheap drip tips):

510 Atomizer - 3.2 ohm
Use for dripping. Great Flavor and vapor. Can use a standard 510 drip tip, has a nice consistent vape at 3.7 and 5 volts
wide bridge and more metal mesh

ARGHHHH - even after soaking them in 150 proof and dry-burning (several times - once or twice it got so hot it shut-down my lil' variable pass-through), they won't stop giving off a seriously intense 'burn smell' (I can still see that lil' wisp of smoke that usually goes away fairly quickly when we've burned the crud off the coils in the clearos & Vivi)...but it won't go away! (perhaps I'm doing something wrong, and there's a different way to 'break them in' or 'burn off' the whatever it is that keeps burning). I've tried them from 3.2-4.8.

SO, we're stuck here and hoping to get some tips from y'all that do alot of testing (so we can get 'em ordered tonight and have 'em ready for our 3-4 day 'testing party' :::insert crazy newbie enthusiasm here::::thumbs: We're not into 'building anything' (yet), and we'd like to keep the cost down to around $15 each (if possible).

Of course, any/all 'tips n' tricks' appreciated & welcomed here. I'll be back at the 'puter in a couple of hours - gotta go get everything set up & organized!

Btw, Hoosier if you're reading this...THANK YOU HUGE for all your great info (and for "entropy" :D)

Doh, almost skipped the thanks to me before I started typing. You are most welcome. Hope all that info helps with your endeavors.

I like the HH.357 long barrel atomizer from Avidvaper, but they have stock issues.

I also like the I06 from Ikenvape. (You need a special drip tip for these so don't forget to order one or two if you get one or five while you're there.)

I really like the Fatty v1 rebuildable dripping atty from Chris Creations, but I don't think that is the way you'd want to go.

A good dripping atty, a drip tip, and you should be good to go. Most flavors can be cleared out of the ones I like just by vaping some plain PG or VG. Stubborn flavors are usually cleared out by swishing in alcohol. (I usually use PGA so I can get back to testing real quick and don't want to wait for Iso to completely evaporate.)

I'm sure there will be other suggestions...

Dripping rba is the way to go IMO. I've spent way too much money on all kinds of different attys and the best so far for me is a nice dripping rebuildable. Easy to dry burn to remove juice flavors. There are some nice ones for fairly cheap. IGO L and the octopus RDA are great bang for the buck and really easy to rebuild.

You are going to get the hang of mixing quickly. I had some old 510 atties laying around, but used them only at first. I started with 5ml batches of two recipes others posted, tweaked them, and made 30ml. After one batch you get a really good sense of what to do next. If one isn't quite right, mix it in with one that is. I haven't made anything I couldn't vape, and after maybe 3 batches I have the quality of the best I was buying.

The two most important things- let everthing steep for a week, then use it on your every-day device for a day before making changes to your recipes. Patience is key. The first few pulls might taste amazing but when you try it all day it may be too much flavor or whatever. And you're going to get way more flavor from dripping than you will in a Nova, for example.

I was going to chime it along these same lines!

Thank you all (so very much) for your time and good suggestions! Frustratingly (waaaaah!) "life happened" and we weren't able to even get started. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

Since we've only been vaping about a month (and our household multimeter is around 15 years old, and very unreliable), we're not equipped to do the rbas safely, so we can't dig into the whole 'rebuildable scene' just yet. We need all our spare time just to get this DIY thing started, so we can start swinging up to the "break even point" (but I've got everything bookmarked for when we can 'go there' :))

We never would have thought of that 'all day' issue - I'm sure that'll save our .... more than once...and the difference in flavor-intensity on the different devices, too!

Thanks again - y'all rock!
