So, to celebrate my first week smoke free I'm treating myself to a new mod. I'm currently using a Smoktech Zmax Mini in gun metal and while I love it, I would like to have a minimum of 2 mods around the house so my smoker friends can experience vaping on something when we're all together in hopes of converting them. I figure since I'm not going to be buying a whole bunch of mods, I might as well jump right into quality. The two that came up the most on my searching were Provari and ZNA.

A local shop has both the Provari (in stainless, gold or black) as well as on stainless ZNA 20. While cost is absolutely relevant, my DH didn't flinch when I told him the ZNA's price point. They're holding the ZNA and have enough Provaris that I'm not worried.

Here is what I need and what I don't need:

1. A good, dependable mod that is comfortable in the hand -- I will be getting a third battery mod for when I'm working to make that easier -- this mod is literally just for "good times."

2. I'm not looking to make the biggest vapor clouds or anything like that. I'm way too new to even think about that and the idea of dripping or building anything sort of scares me. I'm literally an ex-smoker who wants to really enjoy the art of vaping in a point-and-click sort of manner.

3. I will be using it with an Aspire Nautilus tank (I have the full sized, will probably grab a mini, too).

4. I like the vw/vv mods. They are my comfort zone.

5. A pretty mod matters. Sounds silly, I know. But it does matter, to me at least. I know other things are important (way important) but as someone who is coming from the ugly habit of analogs, it's nice to have an interesting piece rather than a white stick with a orange filter.

So...what is the recommendation. I know the shop will have their opinions and I'll listen to them, too, but I know y'all are unbiased and not looking to simply make the biggest sale, so I thought I'd ask here..

Thank you so much!
Ash

Hello Ash

I'm sorry to advise that threads like this often degrade into heated debates. I suggest you browse the threads in the Variable Voltage section of the APV forum for ZNA info and the ProVape forum in the suppliers section to read what current owner have to say about their devices.

Since I believe you have enough posts to start threads elsewhere, I further suggest you ask about one mod at a time, like "I'm thinking of getting XXX, what can you tell me about yours" rather than trying to compare devices that have almost nothing in common.

Cheers!

Why Provari? is a blog that I wrote for people interested in learning why the Provari is so popular.

It is often referred to being designed & marketed for the "simple, common vaper" who is not interested in sub-ohm rebuilding or 30-50 watt DNA mods. It's descriptive keywords are "reliable, dependable, consistant, and durable", something that you can count on working for years. Unlike many mods made elsewhere, it comes with a long warranty and has after-warranty support available for life.

I don't know much at all about the ZNA. I only recently saw my first one last week. However, I can say with full confidence that I have never been disappointed in owning both a standard and mini Provari, my all day, every day devices for over two years.

Congrats on a week free!! With one week in, I'd suggest the ProVari. If you had 5 years in, I'd suggest the same thing! The ZNA is great but it all comes down to the board inside. The ProVari is an excellent device that can adjust to your needs as a newer vaper. It can handle all the progressions you're likely to experience with a bit more ease in my opinion.

Thank you everyone for replying. Lots of great food for thought. Much appreciated!

And thank you Ocelot for the coupon information -- I very well may order one; it's a lovely mod and I've heard only excellent things about it here and elsewhere.

A couple of tips: 1) Check out the clearance page. There are "blems" for sale. Blems are fully functioning, warrantied devices with some sort of minor cosmetic blemish. Most of us who have them have never been able to figure out what the blem is. 2) While the colors are pretty, unless you fall madly in love with one, get a satin silver. They are media blasted and don't show wear or scratches like the colored ones. They are also less expensive and go with just about every juice device on the market.

I've never used or held a ZNA but I love my Provari. It took a full on blast from a water hose today. I dried the outside, pushed the button, and got the same vape it gave before. It's still working hours later and I would bet my next check it will continue to. Provape puts a waterproof coating on the boards before they go into the body. Hope that helps with your decision.

I have both a ZNA30 and a Provari. While the ZNA is a wonderful mod, if you are not into rebuildable atomizers the ZNA is probably not what you are looking for, it's design will not let you vape less that whatever your current battery voltage is, as it does not down regulate voltage. You mentioned you are only interested in using stock attys so you really need a device that can regulate voltage down as well as up, and in that case, no device does that better than a provari.
