As noted above, don't count on a Provari upgrade to VW anytime soon. The standard and mini have exactly the same electronics, only differ in the size of batteries they use (and therefore they themselves differ in length). The standard and mini each have their own milled designs on the body to distinguish one from the other.

Provape makes and sells battery extension caps and also sells off market extender sleeves (and bases) in order to jump up a battery size from the default size for each model.

Tatroe Mods makes the sleeves (rings) and base for Provape, and the parts can be ordered separately here. I've used these to allow the Mini Provari to use 18350, 18490, and 18650 batteries.

LOL I think I asked this exact question about a month ago. I haven't ordered one yet (still waiting until I "deserve" it), but the good folks here gave me tons of info that convinced me the mini is the choice for me. In a nutshell, it's more versatile seeing that you can use the etension cap to make it into the bigger one should you so desire.

Get both! If not in the Program, get the mini and add Tatroe extensions and base. For home use, I use the Provari standard with Tatroe base and single extension to provide for 18650 batts. My out and about device is the Provari Mini. I don't interchange them. My mini is always ready to go out, together with my extra 18350 batt in an 18350 battery case with my SYM tank tool device in "Pill" capsule, extra punched carto, and U-Can:

Notice that the battery never contacts anything metal, so there's no chance for an accidental battery discharge in my pocket. This is my "To Go" kit and always ready, along with the Mini Provari.
