Help with attys

I have a KGo (eGo knockoff) I have been cleaning my Joye 510-T attys each week. I take them apart without removing the wick from the holder. I then do a wash and dry burn as I remove any debris from the coil with a tooth pick. The problem I have been having is the attys when new work great but after cleaning them I can taste the wick burn. I have now attempted to adjust some wicks up away from the coil but that keeps me from getting the juice to the coil properly. Any Idea's?

A couple of ideas.

First, are you dripping or using cartridges? If you are using cartridges, the wick needs to stay put and moving it will only make things worse. If you are dripping, just de-wick them (dozens of how to videos on youtube and elsewhere).

After cleaning, the atty needs to be re-primed. This is true no matter if you are dripping or using cartridges. Drop 5 or 6 drops of whatever flavor juice you are going to use in to it before continuing normal use and installing the cartridge/tank.

I use the 510-T tanks on them and prime with 3-4 drops (anymore and they leak). I had the wick come out of one about a month ago and tried to leave it out but the atty would leak out of the bottom.

EDIT: misread your post and thought you were speaking about the ego-t.

Well, actually found out right now that the 510-T can be cleaned out the same way as an ego-t. Without removing the plate than you cannot dry burn the coil or clean the bottom of the wick. So, here's a video on how to do that. You do need to buy a hemostat:

This video is how I learned to clean them. This is the same way I do it. I am wondering if the wick is burning to the coil and when I pull it out it pulls the wick down as it breaks free.
