Cleaning joyetech c2 heads

My friend uses a joyetech ecom twist with these heads. The issue with them is that the coil is molded into porculan, and the sillica that the coil is wrapped around is near impossible to replace. The coils are also expensive. As i don't use sillica, my question is can i dry burn it to clean it without burning the gunk into the sillica or actually making the burnt taste worse?
Would the process:
Disassemble, remove flavor wicks, wash coil, dry burn, flavor wicks back, reassemble
Clean the coil and give pure flavor again, or would it worsen the burnt taste?

Nobody knows about dry burning coils wrapped around silica?

I have dry burned the ce2 before with the method you described with success. I have also rebuilt them...carefully pulling the old wire out of the ceramic without the wire breaking and causing the holes to plug is tricky tho. I agree ... they are too expensive.

I have no idea how you managed to pull the wire out but thank you for the cleaning input!
