Help with building clapton coils

Hi all, tried my first Clapton with some advice from a local shop yesterday. Built a 24ga kanthal a1 core with a 28ga ss316l outer. Now this sucker takes at least 40 watts to ramp up and its a very warm to hottish vape.
I have an ipower 80 watt with a merlin rta . So I've been building simple round wire build at or around .8 ohms up to 1.2 ohms. What do you recommend I build to get close to those ohms without having to use that high of a wattage? I would like to be around 20 to 30 watts so my ipower battery doesn't drain so fast.
Sorry forgot to mention I would like to use ss316l as I'm told the flavor is better off of that wire

You wont get a decent vape at 20-30W with this massive wire. Its just too much metal to heat up.
If you want a Clapton coil to run decently at your prefered power level, use thinner wires, both for the core and the wrap. Oh, and forget resistance if you run it on a regulated device.
