Help with Burnt Taste?

I'm new to vaping. I can't figure out why my vape tastes burnt, especially when I use it at 30W.

I'm using:

30W iStick
KangerTech OCC, 0.5 ohm
80/20 juice

I even dripped juice on the cotton before using, and it still tastes burnt after a lot of vaping. All parts and juice are brand new. Nothing was left out in the sun or anything like that.

Did you wash the tank out before using it the first time?

Have you tried lowering the power? That's a high amount of vg and it may not be wicking fast enough to keep up.

It seems like you didn't wet the cotton enough before firing it the first time. Once the cotton is burnt, it doesn't matter what you do to it, it will continuously taste burn until you trade out the coil. Try that, then get back to us.

My friend was telling me the other day that he dry hit once on a coil and it totally ruined the flavor afterwards. I would try a new coil. Maybe try the rba deck and see if that works for you. It probably wicks better.

Only other thing I can think of is smell the juice, maybe it needs to be "steeped" and just taste nasty until it sits for a while

The RBA deck actually does NOT rewick better IMHO. That's just my opinion though, take it how you want.

Just now, I replaced the coil and juice. I primed the cotton with plenty of juice, and I'm still getting a burnt taste when I vape at 30W. The coil says it can handle 15-30W.

I vape my kanger .5 coils between 25 and 35 watts so I will say it's strange, try switching to voltage mode and hit it at like 3.7 volts with your airflow all the way open and see how that works.

Also, do you have more than one juice to make sure it's not the juice?

You're using 20/80 juice, I think that's what you were trying to say. If you're using an 80vg juice you probably need to bring the wattage down.

Just because it says it can vape up to 30, that doesn't mean you should. If it's burning it's either too hot or not wicking. If you primed the coil, then that means it's too hot since the wick is wet. So lower the power.
