I was wondering if anyone would give me some good advice on the flavors I have at the moment and what % to mix them..

I made a few batches of 5 ml, tasted pretty bad at 10% but I may have been coming down with a cold... All my juice seemed to taste bad, anyway here is the list... If this is the wrong place to post this sorry!

New York Cheesecake
Strawberries n Cream
Sweet Watermelon
Grape
Orange Dreamsicle
Bubble Gum
Harvest Berry
Sweet Strawberry

Also have some super sweet

... All my juice seemed to taste bad,

This bit right here tells me it's not a flavoring.

At 10% you should be tasting something good with any Capella's flavoring.

To see if it's your cold, you vape your PG plain.
Then vape your VG plain.
Then you vape an unflavored mix at your normal nicotine level.

If one of those tastes bad, then you have your culprit. If all of them taste bad, it's probably your hardware. If you have tried a few different coil & wicks, but it's all bad, it's your cold. (Cold usually just makes things seem dull, not bad, but I've only had one cold since I started vaping <which is great for a 4+ year run> and may not be familiar with current cold symptoms.)

Someone posted this spreadsheet, so I saved it for you :)

Capella's %s (suggestions)

I made NY Cheesecake a couple days ago, sampled it last night. I must say, I really liked it. With that said, I went pretty high with it at 17%, but I'm new.... it was really good. I'd be willing to bet they'll taste better given some time. Don't add anymore, don't throw em out. Sometimes waiting is the best bet.

How did I miss that spreadsheet....lol Thanks for posting it again. I find with all of the Capella I've bought 10 - 12% works for me. The only one I've gone higher with is the Vanilla Custard and did that @ 15%. It was a touch rough right after mixing and it is currently sitting for a revisit in a few more days.

Your mention of "that orangy color" caught my eye, wllmc. I have some Cap VC steeping in amber bottles and after several I'm not noticing much color change. (I must admit it is hard letting this juice sit -- I want to VAPE IT..lol) Maybe a slight straw color, but not the change I was expecting. It tastes fine. I think I read about this somewhere before. Wonder if the amber bottle is preventing something from happening?? What has been your experience??

its just got to steep for a long time. 2-4 weeks. closer toy the 4 weeks to get perfect. in my crock pot vs UC thread I used my favorite custard recipe.it was fully steeped in 4 hrs. I know it goes against everything but when i do my custard I use a clear glass so i can see it change. I figure if its in the dark its got to be good enough lol then i can check on it that way. amber color for everything else just when i want to see it I use the clear. try the crock pot or dehydrator method tho literally cuts weeks off the time.

Four weeks????? Never!!! The juice will never make it that long unless I make a gallon of it....lol. Seriously, I purposely did set a bottle aside to sit for a long time. It is amber, but I can draw some up in a glass tube to gauge the color. I have not yet gone "high tech" in my steeping unless you call a mug of water heated in the microwave "high tech"....lol. I have been reading how you are steeping and I'm about ready to either dig out the crock pot (too hot to use down here in "lovely" FL) or head to Harbor Freight for a UC.
Hey, don't worry about your pics..... at least you know how to post them......

ya seems like a lifetime lol. I personally like it fresh also but most people dont. very chemically and popcorn lungy lol.2 weeks is good, 3 is better and 4 is where its at. ive got a ton stocked up in amber bottles just because at one time thats all i could vape and enjoy. when i am playing around Ill use the clear glass, like the one in the picture for the CP vs UC test I wanted to see it. now I like all kinds of crazy things so its easy to let that one sit around . just my opinion only but the 150 degrees how ever you achieve it is best for speed steeping. Id put the crock pot a notch or 2 above the UC. I got that creaminess you are looking for in 4 hrs in the CP with less of a throat hit than the UC. thats how i know it works. you cant get that super creaminess from just mixing and vaping with caps VC . so anyways the CP also is meant to run for hours on end so i like that also. burned up one UC in 2 months. Ive had my crock pot for 10 yrs lol. the method is all preference but that is my experience as for caps VC anyways. its a must to steep it in one form or another.

dont you just love juice bums lol.... I like when people like my recipes tho. and its cheap enough so may as well spread the love
I just mixed up a batch of Sweet Strawberry at 8% and it's plenty strong. The 15ml I just mixed up 4 days ago as a test batch is almost gone due to others dipping into the stash. I haven't even gotten to use one tankful yet. **sigh**

Guess I need to do this one in 50ml batches.

buffalo guy has a good write up on it in the master techniques thread. think he tried it first maybe. not sure just dont want to steal anyones thunder. what i did was basically that yes. hot water in crock pot on warm setting. then put a meat thermometer in it and closed the lid . kept cracking the lid until the tep stayed a constant 150 degrees. it was basically cracked just enough to where i could leave the thermometer in it the whole time. dropped the bottles in and waited 2 hrs. opened it up took the cap off and let the pressure release. capped it shook it and back in for 2 more hrs. took em out did the same as before. opened it , smelled it , shook it and let it sit until the next morning. came out perfect.

@ 150° is the pressure in the closed bottles a big problem? I can be a little forgetful and don't want an "explosion" in the kitchen or wherever. Just curious if I can go longer or if 2 hrs is set in stone.
I may have an old lab water bath boxed up somewhere. Wonder if that would do the job?

I cant really see it exploding. it just might tho. but on the topic I did one last night that i forgot to check on until 3 hrs and it was just fine, I think the initial burp is probably just alcohol or whatever evaporating . will be interesting to see with everyone else trying this method thinks of it. anything would work that would keep a consistent 150 degrees. also in my test I tested the temp of the juice it actually never got over 139 degrees. wanted to test it at higher temps this weekend but not sure its going to happen the kids are not going to let me be lazy today like I had hoped lol

Thanks, wllmc..... I guess I was thinking of the old pressure cooker and the disasters that can occur with them. No pressure to speak of and not as high of temp. so shouldn't be a problem. I know I need to settle on some method of "power steeping" to help the juices along. As hot as it gets around here, maybe I could steep like making sun tea....:p ... just kidding....

lol ive read about people leaving their juice on the dashboard of the car during the day and even body steeping lol.it really helps to get a better idea fster of what your juice will taste like after a propper steep.
