So, I'm pretty new, been vaping for less than a month, but I dove right in. I bought Vapage U-Turn 1300 and an eVic (love it), 2 different Vivi Novas (the 3.5ml and the STV 3.5ml), a bunch of flavors of eliquid, and a beautiful RBA, the Olympus Hybrid. Bought a bunch of Kanthal (A-1, both some ribbon and some .20mm), some mesh screen (400 and 350) and some 2.0mm silica wick.
I've been VERY impressed with the Vivis. Huge billowy clouds of very flavorful vapor.
With the RBA, I expected to, after some practice, be able to at least reproduce, if not exceed the flavor and vapor from the Vivis.
No way, Jose. I can get the Olympus to create those clouds in silica mode, but both the genesis and wick styles have nearly NO flavor. I pop on the STV and the flavor is there, so I know it's not my tongue.
Whether in genesis mode or silica, I can create a powerful nic hit; can feel it in my chest (throat hit is nice). But the flavor? Nope. I've tried 5 different wicks in silica mode, and after figuring out how to get rid of the burnt rope taste, all I'm left with is VERY weak, or no, taste.
I've tried everything from 2 to 8 (tiny!) coils, I've tried wrapping various folds of the silica wick, from 1 to 3 (any thicker won't fit). I've tried resistances from 1.2 to 3.0 Ohms, and every voltage imaginable, creating 4W to 11W powers.
This is all with the same eliquid that has tons of flavor in the STV, Cinn-a-bun from "High Caliber E-Liquid." I know, I know, but it's a strong flavor, so it's a good test.
I've tried taping up the airhole (which is large) and puncturing the tape to make a nice tight draw. Still no flavor.
Argh!
Any other suggestions out there?
