First of all I would like to thank all of you for answering all of my questions and in a friendly and timely fashion. I am always amazed at how awesome this community is. I had a question about my vapor production took your guys advice and now I am blowing out nice clouds of pg and vg mixed juice.

Now my new problem is the harshness of my juices. My vendor juices have a kick to them but not like my diy. Mine just scratch your throat. What is it that the vendors or you guys are using to smooth out the vapor?

Thanks again.

I have the same issue with certain juices. I've even asked this question not to long ago hehe. What flavors are you trying to DIY that you encounter this problem with? Mine are lorann's watermelon, and any chocolate peppermint mix i attempt. These always end up being throat killers and just feel like i'm inhaling tiny razor blades! Sucks too cause i love the taste of lorann's watermelon and my husband loves tasty vapors chocolate peppermint. I wish i could replicate it :(

One thing i did notice that helped with the harshness was making sure the atty/carto was not flooded. If i get a harsh hit i make sure to blow out what ever device i'm using to clear it of excess juice and that seems to help....not with the flavors i mentioned though, those are always the way they are.

Steeping never helped my harsh flavors. I read another post where you said you typically mix at 15% i'm not sure if this is actually the cause but maybe your flavor is to high for this brand?

Maybe try mixing something up at 5% and see if the harshness is less, and if you can still taste it.

Might also be the nic juice your using..

As Shantia said, the harshness could be coming from the nic juice.

You might try mixing a little batch of juice to your usual nic level but without the flavoring. Use the same proportions of PG/VG and add extra PG to substitute for the flavoring. Then vape it to see if the harshness is still there.

Where did you get your nic liquid, and is it PG or VG based?

Hey Everyone. Add a little Ethyl Maltol to your harsh mixes, it will help smooth out the harsh ones a little.

EM helps with some mixes, so does sweet cream. another one that can help remove harshness is Dulce le Leche. An important thing to remember about PA flavourings is many of them don't do well above 10%. Most of the real challenge in DIY is smoothing out your blends once you get the flavour balance, that is where those "oddball" flavours really come in handy.

I have tried EM in my harsh juices, but its not really the flavor that is harsh its the pain in the throat that makes it harsh. the EM doesnt really do much to smooth that sensation for me. Does help calm down flavors that attack your tongue though.

I also own box elder PG nic, and when my favorite flavors (the two i mentioned earlier) started going harsh i ordered some VG nic from them, and two different suppliers to compare. No difference in any of the nic i ordered..who knows maybe it all came from box elder and just got repackaged LOL. No clue. My next test will be ordering from xtremevaping.com (i think thats the website). But i've got quite of bit of juice to go through before i make that order!

It does not matter what flavor I use it all feels the same. I am using TPA flavors. Peach, Mango, Menthol, Chocolate, lots of different flavors. I am mixing 26mg nic level and 60% pg and 40% vg aprox. I have heard of something called MTS wizard or something like that but I don't know if it would smooth it out like I want.

Hi Rimallik

I think you might be talking about Vape Wizard by Flavourart? If so Im not sure that is what you are after either, as I mix plenty and am definitely not a fan of the throat hit kick. If you'd like to try it ecigexpress.com carries it.

FlavourArt's Description:

MTS vape wizard contributes toward softening any acidic/sour perception, it assists in making vapour thicker, and it delivers both body and depth to any e-liquid. Try at 0.5-2%.

Have you had a chance to mix a non-flavored juice and try that yet? To me it sounds like you are having a slight reaction to the fluid rather than the flavorant. Perhaps try some experiments with your PG, your PG nic base and your VG. You might be able to narrow it down that way.

Regarding your steeping question...When you start with TPA, start at 5-10%. I rarely find anything that needs to go over that. Give it a gentle shake and watch through the bottle you can see the strings of VG, flavoring, and PG marrying. Now go to your sink and run the bottle body under hot water as you rotate it stopping to gentle shake and look at your fluid again. You arent wanting to shake so vigorously that you infuse it with tiny air bubbles you are trying to meld it. Continue a few minutes until mixture looks nice and smooth. Now let it sit a couple days to rest and then try again. You flavor should be saying hello at this point. If you are using creams or custards it can take a bit longer for them to come out.

The only other thing I can think of is that it is hardware related? Are you using different carts??

Thank you guys again. I have not tried to mix a non-flavored batch yet. Work and kids and all. I am going to try tonight. I'll try to go back to 10% again. Maybe I just jumped the gun. I was talking about flavour art wizard. I might have to order some of that. I am dripping into a lr 510 atty on my ego battery and also using the tank system when dripping is inconvenient. I'll post back with what I find. You guys are most helpful.
