help with passthrough

I just got a passthrough from liquid nic stix. it was the cheap one they sell. when I plugged it into my computer I pushed the button and the led lit up fine. however when i put on the atomizer and put some liquid on it and pushed the button again the led kept blinking. when i unscrewed the atomizer and tried the battery again the led lit up fine. It's a 306 atomizer. anyone know why this is happening?

Does this passthrough have a battery box? Is the 306 an LR?

If it is a 5 volt passthrough it is drawing too much power and will damage your computer. You need a passthrough with a battery in it to run form a computer or you need a different 5v 2amp power source, you computer can't push 2 amps.

If it is a pure passthrough, no battery, your usb port possibly doesn't supply enough amps.

The usb spec is only 0.5 amps. Many pcs output more, but don't have to.

A dedicated usb power supply, 2 amp rating, is a good thing to use with a true passthrough and even them you should only use atties that are at least 2.5 ohms.

This is what I've been using for my USB's. I keep it plugged into a surge protect and it works just fine. Both of my PT's are 5V, but I would suggest it for the PTs with the battery box, too. Better safe than sorry.

Your passthrough wants more current than your USB port is able to provide. Just spend a few more bucks for an AC adapter like the one WomanOfHeart suggested.

Good advice. You can damage your PC with that PT. As stated, get a good 5 volt/2 amp USB to AC adapter and plug the PT into house current. Additionally, cheap PT's don't hold up well. It could be damaged.

Thanks a a lot for the advice. I'll get an ac adapter. I'm glad that the passthrough it's self is not a dud
