I am building my own coils (newbie), at first it was great but lately i'm getting dry hits even with low wattage.

Subtank Mini
Kbox 40w
Kanthal 26g

4 wraps (0.48)
5 wrap (0.62)
6 wraps (0.78)

At the minute i have 4 wraps, 0.48 and even vaping at 13 watts i'm still getting dry hits and is p*ssing me off.

I am relatively new to building but i do know what i'm doing (i think)

When i lung vape for longer than 2 seconds whatever the wattage i get them nasty hits.

What am i doing wrong?

If you find it hard getting the cotton in, you're most likely using too much. You want to be able to pull the cotton through the coil with just a bit of resistance. If you can move the coil when pulling the cotton, you're using too much. Don't get frustrated though...we've all gone through this. It's like a right of passage or something. That and having a hand full of juice for over-compensating. I could probably vape for a week on the juice and cotton I wasted in the last year. Check out Pbusardo and others on YouTube...helped me a ton.

Try this; get a 7/64 or 1/8 drill bit, make a 8 wrap coil. The cotton should slide pretty easily into the coil with just some resistance.

If you have the older style RDA section the cotton should just touch the flood deck. If you have the newer RBA section set the cotton so it blocks the holes but dont pack it in tight.

Since you are using a VW mod the resistance of the coil does not matter.
