Ok, I just got this thing and I'm coming from a fixed ego battery so this thing is kind of complicated to set up to me. I have Protanks and evods with 2.2 ohm heads and and Ibtanked set up with the standard boge cartos which I believe are around 3 ohms. I'm not sure about the volts and watts settings. I'm not sure what settings to use and does it change the volts if I turn up the watts or vice versa? The manual really doesn't explain it and I don't want to fry any of my heads by overpowering them. Can anyone recommend what setting I should use. Did a search but really didn't come up with any good suggestions. Thanks!

Its not really as complicated as you think, you will be using either the volt setting or the watt setting and by changing either one you in effect also change the other as well. Most people prefer the watt setting and that is what I use as well. Your settings will probably tend to be somewhere between 6 to 9 watts but can go lower or higher depending on your likings. There is a chart floating around somewhere on ecf bit I couldn't find it. So if you have your protank on the device, try setting it at 6 watts and adjust up or down from there until you are happy with the vape. I find myself pretty much around 6.5 to 7 watts for my sweetspot. Hope this helps.

Try these settings for starters. This will set you up for VW (power operation). No, adjusting volts or watts in either the voltage or power modes will not effect the other.

-Insert the battery. Adjust the telescopic tube length to fit. On batteries larger than 18350 the battery should extend no more than 1/16" beyond the tube before screwing on the battery cap. Ideally, the battery spring should never be compressed much more than half way.
-Start the Sigelei system. 5 fast clicks and the Sigelei start message will scroll on the screen.
-3 fast clicks to bring up the menu.
-Menu Item #1. OUT ON/OFF. Turn ON if needed. This is the power lock-out feature for safe pocket carry.

Click to go to...
-Menu Item #5: LCD Display: This picks what shows up on the display when you fire the APV. You have the choice of selecting Voltage, Resistance or Battery. Select Voltage. Now the power (watts) will appear on the screen when you fire.
-Menu Item #6: LCD ON/OFF: Select ON
-Menu Item #7: Power Voltage: Select Power. This selects variable power (wattage) instead of variable voltage mode.
-Menu Item #8: RMS & Mean: Select RMS
-Menu Item #2 or #3: (Power UP or Power Down) Select a power (wattage) to start with. Try 6.5 watts.

With these settings the Sigelei operates in variable power (variable wattage) mode with power and voltage calculated by RMS. When the button is pushed to vape the screen lights up and gives the output power in watts. Remaining battery voltage shows up when you hit Menu Item #4.

These VW settings will remain in memory when you change out the battery.

When in the power mode (watts, VW) the Sigelei Zmax will automatically read the resistance of your atomizer and adjust the voltage (using Ohm's law) as necessary to deliver the power (watts) you dialed into the unit. If you have 7.0 watts dialed into the device it will give you 7.0 watts with a 2.4 ohm atomizer. If you swap out the 2.4 ohm for a 3.0 ohm atomizer and you still have 7.0 watts dialed in then the Sigelei will still give you 7.0 watts with no further adjustment necessary. VW does that adjustment for you. That's an advantage of VW over VV.

If you decide you want to vape at more or less watts, use Menu Items Nos. 2 or 3 to do that.

I agree. You're over thinking it. Just find the voltage or wattage that gives you a good vape. Someone said above that he finds 6-9 watts good on his gear for a similar resistance. I find I'm at 5-7 tops or things taste burnt to me. Neither is right or wrong. There are just too many factors involved, including personal preference. With anything new, start low whether voltage or wattage and increase to your liking. If it tastes burnt or dry, take it down a bit. Simple as that. The goal isn't to find the ideal number, it's the ideal vape for your setup, juice, taste etc.
