i just received a Riva from china that claims to have a 750mAh battery..i ripped one battery enclosure apart and found these numbers which i cant interpret.

in sequence of order on the battery
13450
2.41wh
+C21005053JOYE

can anyone decipher what it is and if it truly is a 750mAh or less

BTW. i measured the voltage with a MM and got 3.74v - if that helps

13450 is probably the battery dimensions
13mm diameter x 45mm long - 0 means round

Can't help you with 2.41 wh(atevers) may mean?

Hmmm... +xxxxxxJOYE... manufactured by Joye?

good call, just did some checking now and you are 100% correct

as for the 2.41wh - i found some BenQ camera batteries with the Wh (watts per hr)...this may or may not be correct but i dare say it would be close.

all of these specs are for 3.7v LI-ION flat batteries
650mAh; ~2.34Wh
650mAh; ~2.41Wh
710mAh; ~2.63Wh
750mAh; ~2.78Wh
800mAh; ~2.96Wh
860mAh; ~3.18Wh
1050mAh; ~3.78Wh
1230mAh; ~4.55Wh

so dont know if round has greater or less capacity but now after some digging around i found the formula for watt-hr as stated below

The watt-hour (symbolized Wh) is a unit of http://searchcio-midmarket.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid183_gci213564,00.htmlenergy equivalent to one watt (1 W) of power expended for one hour (1 h) of timehttp://searchcio-midmarket.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid183_gci552553,00.html. The watt-hour is not a standard unit in any formal system, but it is commonly used in electrical applications. An energy expenditure of 1 Wh represents 3600 joules (3.600 x 103 J). To obtain joules when watt-hours are known, multiply by 3.600 x 103. To obtain watt-hours when joules are known, multiply by 2.778 x 10-4.
In general, energy (E) is equivalent to power (P) multiplied by time (t). To determine E in watt-hours, P must be expressed in watts and t must be expressed in hours. Suppose a 60-W bulb burns for 3 h. Then P = 60 and t = 3, so the energy E in watt-hours is:
E = Pt = 60 x 3 = 180 Wh
If P and t are not specified in watts and hours respectively, then they must be converted to those units before determining E in watt-hours.

Thanks for the reply VaporMadness at least i know a bit more and now im going to rip these guys in china a new ...... for false advertising the mAh unless the can substantiate the figures on the battery..hehehe even if they said i voided warranty for opening the unit up...

I want some freebies :p

I find it hard to believe the Riva has a genuine Joye battery. I could be wrong, but I do know Janty was very upset when the Riva was introduced and it was claimed at that time to be an exclusive item made by Joye for them (Riva, EastMall). Claims that were retracted after EastMall were called out for it. At that time all references to Joye were removed from their posts on this forum.

Watt-hour... ok that makes sense. The most fascinating thing to me is that you got a Riva, an eGo clone, but it contains what appears to be eGo parts, the Joye battery... go figure.

a good friend of mine has an original eGo which has the 680mAh battery.. so when i saw the unit with the 750mAh from...wait for it...trueman.. i had to get it to see the difference..

i will take a photo tonight (au time) and post tomorrow for you to look at

here is the link to the RIVA i got

The 3.7 volt (accepted average for a Li-ion cell) times the mah capacity gives watthours.
You have the answer already. You have a 650mah cell.
Watt Hours makes sense here in the U.S. Dell now advertises watthours for their laptop batteries instead of mah like IBM.
I doubt they buy Joye cells to put in their laptops though.

i am doubtful about all the other suppliers who state they have a 750mAH..

if anybody has a dead battery and wants to open it up please post the details so we can determine the accuracy of these RIVA'S
