12mg/ml nic & 18mg/ml nic will be very harsh using subohm resistances. 3 ~ 6 mg/ml nic are more common for subohm ranges.
What is the PG/VG ratio?

This. I'm about 99% sure his issue is from the nic. I used to do 12/16mg nic. I finally got myself my first Sub-Ohm when I got Halo's new Reactor. Glad I took the suggestions to cut the nic content down. I dropped to 3 and I can feel it stronger than I ever did with the 12.

This device hits at full power which is 60 watts in temp control mode.
(ni or ti) turning down the temp. is the only way to reduce the heat. Only the ni200 coil(0.15ohm) and the Ti coil(0.5 ohm) work in temp. mode and they should not be used in power/wattage mode.

If you are running the 0.3 ohm coil it is a kanthal coil and will only work in wattage mode.

If it is still too harsh after playing wit different settings and temps you'll need to get a liquid with a lower nic level and/or a higher VG level to achieve a smoother more pleasurable vape. cheers.
