Hey so I'm new here. Also new to vaping in general. I have been off cigs for about a month or month and a half. But I have an Eleaf Mini iStick. It vapes at 10 watts. I have an Aspire K1 tank. It's made of glass. The coil is 1.8 ohms. I can go from 3.3 to 5.0 volts. I just got a new coil yesterday and new juice that taste like Fruit Loops. What is the best voltage to avoid that dreaded burning flavor or dry hits? No matter what I do I can't seem to find a sweet spot. Variable voltage, but battery is 10 watts. 1.8 ohms. Thanks in advance.

Hi Alextwillz.

And Congratulations of getting off Cigarettes.

I'm not really familiar with the Aspire K1 tank. But the Basic Rules of VV/VW are the Same for whatever you use.

And that is to Start at the Lowest Setting (in either Volts or Watts) and see how it hits. Not enough Hit or Flavor? Then Slowly bump the Volts or Watts up until you find what works Best.

There is No Magic Number for either Volts or Watts that works for All People and All e-Liquids. Everyone kinda has to find their own.

Last Thing. What type of PG to VG Ratio do you use? Because as you go with Higher and Higher VG Ratios, the e-Liquids tend to get Thicker and Thicker.

And a Thick e-Liquid does Not Wick as well as a Thinner e-Liquid. And Poor Wicking is why people get "Dry Hits.

Hope this Helps. And Welcome to the ECF.

Welcome Alex!

Make sure that you prime the coil well before you start hitting it. I also recommend starting low (around 8-8.5W) Take a few hits, then nudge up a bit. Take a few more, nudge, etc. If you start to get a burning taste, back off. Each coil, each tank, each juice will vape a little differently. Sometimes one flavor profile may not vape as well at higher power as another flavor. Just experiment....

Each of us has his or her own "sweet spot".

Vape on :vapor:

Welcome Alex, The burnt taste is from too much heat/too little juice at the coil. That's why you start low and work your way up. I usually vape a 1.8 ohm coil at about 3.5 volts. Find an Ohm's Law calculator and plug that in to find out what wattage that is. Put in 1.8 ohm and 3.5 volts and and it will give you the watts that are consumed.

Oh and the setting will likely be different for every mod and atty and juice you use.

This is a Very Important point to Remember.

12 Watts on one Atomizer with e-Liquid may taste Harsh and Burnt. Whereas at 22 Watts on another Atomizer/e-Liquid might taste Weak.

So Much depends on the Coil/Wicking and on the How Much Air Flow there is.

It really depends on the coil individually and vapor style. What may work great for me (chain vaping) may not for you. Basics to remember are VOLT:HARD HARSHER HITS WATTS SMOOTHER MORE MELLOW HIT AND HIGHER COIL OHMS LESS OF EITHER NEEDED. Try starting af halc normal level and work upwards until you find tbe sweet spot. Remember even the Nautilus hits dry and burns liquid at differenent power lvls and diff people using them. My Spinner 2 and a nautilus never dry hit on max voltage but I used it onlh at work and few hits at a time. Also depends on the viscosity (thickness of liquid as well. Thinner better for preventing dry hits but poor for vapor production and higher chancs of burning
