Help with wicking on DiD genesis atomizer

I was wondering the same thing. Mine tastes great for 3-4 hits then it has a disgusting dry hit. If I let it sit for 10 minutes...its good for a few again then same thing. I'm wondering if I rolled the SS too tight...thats all I can think it might be.
ah yes. That could be the problem. I'm using VG juice and not sure the size of mesh but it was pretty fine. I'll have to try find some 270 or 325 mesh and try again.

Another thing, air needs to be allowed back into the tank as juice is being wicked out of it. if you have your "fill hole" screw in and the wick is so wide that there is not very much space between the wick and wick hole then there is no way for air to get back into the tank section to displace the juice and you get a sorta vapor lockthat will not allow any juice out of they tank.
This same thing happend to me on my first DuD (fake DID), I have to run my DuD with the fill screw removed to give it this air path. if you don't want to remove the fill screw then you would need to roll a slightly skinnier wick to allow air in through the wick hole just past the wick.
This vapor lock situation can also occur if the tank has been all the way to the very very top, I usually leve just s tad bit of air still in the tank on fills to keep that from happening on a freshly filled tank.

the mesh is 400 i think and the juice is mostly pg. my wick doesn't completely fill the hole so i dont think thats the problem. maybe the mesh is too fine?
I use 400 on 50/50 juice and mine wicks perfect......even if there is less than 1ml left in the tank.
I use a medium walled, small hole wick .......if that makes sense. The wick is rolled tight into a "tube" rather than a solid "stick". The hole down the "tube wick" is about equal to the wall thickness. Hopefully that is understandable, it's been the perfect wicking solution for me.
keep in mind that even juice filling the space between the wick and wick hole can become an "air return" issue. I would try taking out the fill hole screw at least as a test (if you haven't tried already). It's a fine line to get that perfect happy medium.......

it seems to be wicking better with the screw out but vapor production and taste still isnt the greatest. im getting a way better vape from my old vivi nova

I use 35x35 mesh piece then roll it till it slides easily in the hole;leave a part uncoiled on top.

I have 325 mesh installed in my did clone now, and using 32 awg kanthal. 6/5 wrap gives me 1.5 ohms. I am pretty sure my coil is good, but when I fire it for more than a few seconds I see parts of my coil starting to glow. I'm not sure if its the coil or if the mesh isn't wicking fast enough. Its 50/50 juice. The wick was pre-made for me by someone. I don't want to pull it apart if it may just be the coil. I have messed with it, adjusting it, but to no luck. I can get about one, short puff before it starts to go dry. Any input appreciated, thanks!

Oh and maybe a dumb question, but how do you check the juice level in the tank? You can't unscrew the top cover without the positive post staying stationary and twisting your wick/coil, right? So you can't unscrew it enough to get a little gap to peek in with a flashlight or something to check the juice level. I heard a 10mL syringe tube will fit, can anyone confirm this? Thanks again all.
Genesis tanks are awesome...like the best wick and wire tanks around,when you run out of juice,you just dont get any vapor...then you refill.

will a higher grade or lower grade wick produce better wicking with 70/30 pg juice? my did came with 325 and 400 mesh and i think 38 kanthal wire? the site is down so im not sure. ive been using the 400 mesh rolled about as tight as i could get it and snipped the tip at an angle.

38awg kanthal sounds very thin for a genesis. Most people are using 28-32awg. Do you know the total ohms your running at?
I thought maybe you might have been getting 4+. I have never used 38. I have used 36 and the resistance on that was pretty high. 1.9 should be fine. How many coil wraps?
i just rolled another wick and oxidized it for about 15 minutes, now im getting the nasty metal taste again with low vapor... maybe ill just stick with the vivi novas
