I have a z-atty u that I picked up here on the classifieds. It shows serious voltage drop when the positive & ground screws are connected, even with just a single piece of wire. Without the wire the voltage is fine.

I have cleaned it thoroughly several times with isopropyl and lightly sanded the contact points.

I'm hoping that someone here can help. Thanks!

Edit: I guess in the thumbnails it's difficult (impossible) to see but without the wire it reads at 4v and with a single piece of wire connecting it reads at 2v.

What kind of wire are you using? resistance wire?

Sorry, I had pretty much given up on this thread after not receiving responses for a while and haven't visited the forum for a little bit.

@bigleft, No real resolution yet.

@varivapr, Yes, 28ga A-1 Kanthal from Temco.

@Rymarski, Thanks. I've read that entire thread and was hoping to avoid heavy modding of the atty. I also found it odd that the drop occurred only when the posts were wired up, which made me question the fact that the spring was actually the issue. It sounds like replacing the spring with a brass post is my next step.

I appreciate the responses!
