Hi folks,

Theres so much information around, I've read for hours and feel like I've made almost no progress. Please Help!!

I want to get a fairly inclusive starter kit for my 85 year old grandmother, so it would be best to "keep it simple". She currently smokes 2 packs a day, so whatever I would get would have to be fairly sturdy, or else I'm sure she'll try it until it dies and write it off. Low maintenance and long lasting would be best, any ideas??

I'm also located in Vancouver Canada, so what would be the best places to order online from? I'm aware of the possible complications of ordering across the border, and am willing to risk it.

Any and all input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Thanks for all the quick replies!

What about flavors and strength? I don't want my grandmother to get a nicotine rush and hit the floor on her first puff... but since she smokes so much she might want something that has a little kick... how does it compare?

5 cartomizers come with the kit, how long will 5 last? Under the assumption that she'll vape as often as she smoked..

For the flavors, would it be best to try something tobacco flavored? or go straight to something like vanilla?

So Many Options!!! argh.

Thanks again!

Hello
Look at vapor4life.com....this would be the simpliest one due to you buy pre-filled cartomizers and all you do is screw them onto the battery and vape....However, make sure you get her at least 2, so one can be charging while she uses the other one.

:)
btw welcome to ecf.

I agree. Prefilled carts would be easiest and definitely two batteries. Being that she smokes two packs a day you may want to consider a kit with a larger battery. Nothing was more irritating then having dead batteries.

What kind of cigarettes does she smoke? It's easier to suggest strength if we know that. As far as flavor I would get her a variety its hard to know what she will like. If you can't do that start with tobacco (or if she smokes menthols start out with that). Most smokers start out vaping at least being ok with the tobacco flavors.

Do you think she would care if it doesn't look like a cigarette? If she doesn't, then I recommend the eGo. Very popular, battery lasts all day so you aren't messing with chargers constantly. Definitely get cartomizers for her as they are simpler, too. But if she smokes two packs a day, she will go through them pretty fast. Do you think she would have the ability to refill?

I recommend a basic tobacco flavor, coffee flavor, and something else that she likes to drink/eat. Coffee for me was the closest I got to 'real' tobacco, and as a coffee drinker, was most palateable for me when starting.

It's on behalf of my grandfather (the old romantic) so I can't get her input. I don't think she would be too particular about it's shape as long as it's not ridiculous.. I'll take a look at the eGo and see what it's about. So would 1 cartomizer last a day? A week? 10 drags? A ballpark guesstimate would help.

A 2 pack a day smoker will likely go through about 4-6 cartomizers per day.... maybe less. A 5 pack is about $10, so even if she doesn't refill them she just about breaks even cost-wise. The batteries won't last forever either though, they can be charge two or three hundred times I think.
