I am interested in buying a GGTS, but I have been told that I could have to wait up to two months before they are back in stock, I am very surprised at this and it doesn't make good business sense, it has had excellent
reviews, but is unavailable, WHY?
Simply put, there is only one Imeo. Yes, using the manufacturing process and business methods he chooses are not to deprive anyone of the ability to own any of his work. It's a simple fact though that the only way he can keep the products he makes and sells at the peak of efficiency and quality, he must stay in direct control of every step of the process.
It has been discussed many, many times and is true: Imeo could license out his designs and have them mass produced but the products would lose the level of art that they are in both build and function.
Imeo is in the busines to please vapers, not become a mega-millionaire from it. The only venture I am aware of that he did license out was the Fog and while I am sure the makers did the best they could, they were profit oriented. The quality of build and function suffered and that ended it.
The best analogy that comes to mind is a situation like the artist Pablo Picasso. He was a great artist but in the last half of his life, he became very profit oriented. He would do 100's of Poor Robbie etchings and sell them quickly. I am not saying he was a sellout - Simply that his artwork was rendered somewhat less by going for mass production.
On the other hand, take DaVinci. He was producing art for the sake of the art itself. Yes there are hundreds if not thousands fewer examples of his work but his motivations were different from Picasso. That doesn't mean either one was "wrong" nor anything of the sort.
It is the same with the GG series Imeo creates. He is making his art to please those who use them as opposed to cranking out thousands to make money. Yes some items are harder to come by but the approach Imeo takes makes sure that he knows each piece is made to the best of his abilities to please the user who gets it.
GG's do come available on the classifieds so they are available to be had. It is simply his devotion to his work and personal belief that each piece should be the best he can produce. The wait sometimes is excrutiating but like anything really worth having, it is worth waiting for.
On that, I can speak from personal experience.
