Hi, I'm new to the forums...but not new to vaping. However, I am ignorant. Anyways, I was hoping to get some help from the ecf forum members. I am looking for a 5v mod that doesn't stack batteries, takes protected batteries, built-in safety features would be a plus(similar to the provari/lavatube), durable and doesn't break the bank. Also, nice if it works with the dual coil cartos(99% of my vaping).

Any help will do, its just hard to find info on devices that match what I'm looking for. Really, I just want a device that is 5v and has the least possible chance to sizzle, boom, discharge, short circuit, ect as possible. Thanks for the help...

There isn't much out there if anything for 5v mods without stacking as there aren't any 5v batts unless you get a VV mod. Most of the VV mods can't handle the dual coils because of the amp restrictions which is a circuit protection feature. Maybe the new Provari V2 but then again the price goes up.
Someone else may have more info but I don't know of any.

edit: you may want to check on the kick to add to your mod, this may help.

Notcigs has two buzz pro designs that just got approved as meeting the new ecf standard. They should be listed for sale very soon. Output power is up to 15W, a 1.5 ohm dual coil will work at up to 4.7V.

Check back frequently on your posted question. I feel that your inquiry is one that many people will be interested in and there are also many who monitor the state of the technology for the type mod that you are looking for.

Once you get 5 posts and wait about an hour, ECF will open up for you and you can go most anywhere on the board at that time.

well, atm i only have a triple v from KVS. I have had other mods(plastic box mods) and generic e-cig stuff...but only the original 510's i got when i first got into vaping are still alive and kicking. Anyways, I don't know if it can use a kick with the vvv(i know that its not on their list of tested mods). My problems with the vvv is pretty simple...its stacks unprotected 18350 imr batteries. While I love 5v and the mod...I hate the idea of using a potential hazard.

I'm fairly safe...I have multiple sets of batteries(labeled to keep sets together) and adhere other safety guidelines as far as handling and storage. But I'm human...one way or another I will screw up. I want a device that adheres to human flaw and has at least more than a vent hole and a melting spring to keep me from injuring myself, my wife and my kids.

Basically, I can't get the wife to agree to letting me get the provari(and fyi the provari 2 is est to be only $20 cheaper) do to the fact its about $211 for a starter kit. I know my options are pretty limited, but I really am hoping for something similar. I even thought about getting the Lava Tube and going back to xl single coil cartos with a tank.

Really the dc's are great but safety(whether it be only a little safer) imo is more important to me while not breaking the bank.

Notcigs has buzz pro versions (the II and the Lightning) that meet the new safety spec (added large side vent slots), can go to higher power than provari or lt, maintains voltage properly (like provari), & costs less than provari. It doesn't have an lcd, if that is a must-have for you. I prefer a simple interface, but that is a user preference thing, there is no right or wrong.

Honestly, the buzz pro sounds more like my type of mod...it has almost all of the safety features I was looking for except stacking batteries. I really need to do some research on it...thanks for the advice!!

Don't be scared to stack batteries. Just play it smart and don't skimp on batteries...always buy the best. AW brand is what I use and I've been stacking batteries for a long time.

For a good 5V mod, check out Welcome to Maximum Vapors - E Cig Supplier. Todd builds a very nice, clean box mod. Takes 2 x 14500 batteries and will run the dual coils without tripping out. Use code ECF1 for 10% off. He also builds the "Woodie" in 5V. More expensive but worth every penny.

As for the BuzzPro, you can't beat the safety features that Mike instills in his mods. InfinityPro also has the same features.

None of the vv boost units have come in meeting the ecf standard as of yet (no surprise, it is a brands new spec), I believe. That certainly doesn't make them bad, but people should educate themselves on this topic.

I recently ran across a thread where someone mentioned using a NiMH 4.8v battery. You could try a google search in ecf, see what they used, what safety features the pv has.

I've been using an original notcigs infinity, and a buzz pro, for over a year, very solid devices, excellent performers, reliable, already had most of the safety features the spec requested. The notcigs pro series always had a delrin battery cap which acted as a blowout plug, which ecf was originally indicating was acceptable; the change to requiring the large slots, blowout plug not an allowed alternate, actually just occured.

That notcigs was able to meet compliance with what ecf is seeking so fast is a sign that they've always taken the safety side seriously, it was a short putt for them.

What hairball mentioned on box mods is absolutely correct, too, some good options there
