Ok Im in a panic. My stealth has seized up if that is the correct term. I cannot get the cap off no matter how hard I try. Thats what I get for forgetting vaseline for a couple of weeks. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Try putting it in the freezer for a couple hrs, then try to unscrew using whatever you feel comfortable with. Also ultrasonic cleaner. That may loosen it up. Other than that?? When SS threads weld together, its a disaster.

If all else fails get some Kano Kroil and spray it on the joint. It will get in the threads by capillary action and loosen it up. The stuff is like magic. It'll take a good cleaning afterwards to get the smell off though.

Thanks for the info UL - just checked it out - wow, never heard of it before but appears everyone should have a can of this in their house. Awesome stuff. If this doesnt loosen the cap, nothing will.

Kano Kroil is a can of amazing penetrating oil. "Thinner then oil" as they say. It is one of my cans of getting undone like never before. However it has a odor that I wish I could forget. I like the idea of leaving it in the freezer for a hour or so with a container of hot water waiting. Once out of the freezer dip the end cap only into the hot water. After a minute you should be able to un screw the cap with ease. Please do not try to use wrenches as you could mar pieces in a nasty way.

steve, I think that what you said will have the opossite result of what we want. If we freeze the whole unit and then boil the cap then the cap will be bigger, so it will stuck more inside the tube. I think that prossedure must be the opossite. We have to boil the whole unit so it will be bigger. Then we put the cap in cold water so it will become smaller. That way it will come out easy
After you stick it for a couple hours in the freezer get a cup of boiled water and before you try unscrewing it dip the top cap in for a few minutes. Then try and unscrew it.
Good luck with it and let us know what happened

we agree on this Steve. Thats what we both want, a small difference. But the prossedure is the opossite than what you said. Exept we are talking about different things. The top cap we are talking about is the connector or the venting cap? I am talking about venting cap. If its the connector then YOUR prossedure is the right one

You are a gun owner for sure! Kano is the best but a little goes away. I think putting some Kano first, then freezing the thing and then finally dipping the head in hot water as Captain describes might be the best combination. If you score the cap, send it to me and i'll throw it on the lathe and polish it up for you.

Great stuff but it has a very peculiar smell. I happen to like it but then again...

Hey guys thanks for all the ideas. I ordered some Kano Kroil and will wait for it till I try anything. For now I just take off the button and bottom cap to change the battery. Funny I always use vaseline, but my stealth was working so well with penelope I just forgot to use it. Thanks for the offer Torq, you and the rest of the guys are always so helpful, I love the GG family.
