Hey guys!!

Love the forum and I have been reading tons! Problem is the more I read the more I get confused....

So here is what I am looking for - I am a very light smoker (just a few cigarettes a week). I want to find an e-cigarette that looks very similar to a real cigarette (I know battery life isnt good but I am so light it doesnt matter), automatic battery (I dont want to messs with buttons, and cartridges that are flavored ultra light....

Can anyone steer me in the right direction????

Hi there WindyCityGirl.
Cheesehead from WI here. Don't know if your a football fan, but we should have a good game this weekend.
Now, I'll try to help with your question.
You will get a variety of recommendations from members replying to your thread.
There are a lot of good choices for you to pick from. Don't get discouraged

I recommend you read DonDaBoomVapes 6 part series here: The ECF Library
Also read another of his threads here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...st-electronic-cigarette-first-time-vaper.html

Lots of good videos on YouTube. Many of which were made by ECF members.

I would suggest either the 510 or the KR808D-1. Both are slender type batteries and perfectly suited for a light smoker like you. The vast majority of e-cigs that try to look like cigarettes are overpriced junk.

Cartridges don't come in ultra light flavors. You'll have to go with a nicotine level, perhaps 12mg or lower. I would also suggest empty cartomizers and juice and refilling them yourself. Prefilled cartos might be convenient, but the flavors are extremely limited, usually don't taste good and function inconsistently. You'll save money by filling your own and it really isn't difficult.

I agree with the 510/KR808 recommendation, but not so sure about refilling just yet for someone brand new. Gotta find what you like first before committing to a bottle. V4L (maybe others) offer sample packs where you can try a variety. And they have a huge selection of prefilled flavors. Now granted I'm new at this too, but from what I've read, getting juice made with VG sort of mutes the flavor, so if it's a mild taste you're after that might do it (please, experts, correct me if I'm wrong). But if it's just a low level of nic you want, then you just specify that when you order.

Yeah around 12mg nicotine and you'll have to find a tobacco juice flavor you like.

I am not sure but I think 510 comes in auto or manual (manual has the button)

I wouldn't recommend KR808D-1 for an ultralights smoker - it's a big bigger hit than that IMO. Maybe not too bad with their Coolcarts at Vapor4Life but it's a bit hard to tell which prefilled cartos are in Coolcarts. This is a 2-piece model. Might be OK if you vape it lightly.

Another nice one might be dse901 - a nice airy tasty vape. And they do come in automatic. I was a lights smoker. I use a DSE901 atty and carts on a KR808D-1 battery (a combo that happens to fit with no adapter). Nice easy drag on 901 atty too. May possible be too light for you.

And those are basically the most recommended minis right there - those 3.

BTW - an ecig battery will not hold its charge over days. You'll have to recharge at least once per day, maybe twice, to make sure the battery works when you need it. A PCC might be good for that.

The 510 comes in both automatic and manual batteries. Depending on the site you order from, you can choose which style you'd like. I came back from over a year of not vaping (went back to real cigs) and I guess the auto batts are a fairly recent thing. Definitely did not see them in 2009 when I got my first 510 starter kit with manual batteries. I didn't stop vaping because the 510 sucked...I stopped because I didn't like the juice I bought and figured all of them would be the same; boy was I wrong. The 510 is really, really good! I also tried a 400 series for a couple of weeks that I borrowed from a friend. It was the exact size of a real cig and the vapor production was decent. I love my 510 right now, probably even more with automatic batteries.

Ask ten people that question, and you'll get ten different answers. It's all very subjective. Personally, I'd suggest watching MisstressNomad's vids for newbies (they're in a sticky at the top of the New Members Forum). She specifically gives the ins and outs of the two most popular 'kinda cig sized' e-cigs, the KR808 and the 510 (which was the first good one I got, and got me off analogs). Either one is a good place to start.

They can both be had relatively cheap. Until you really start vaping, you won't know what it is you need. It's like trying to describe what scrambled eggs taste like... to someone who has never tasted scrambled eggs.

Try one of those, or the other suggestions, but don't break the bank. Once you've tried a [good] e-cig, then you'll have some questions that we can answer....

Like, how can I get more vapor than 'x' model, or how can I get my batteries to last longer, or how can I not have to fill up my cartridges so often... you know?

Best idea I can think of here is DSE901 in white for the atomizer and battery, with the round brown carts...small, light, looks like a cig. You can get prefilled carts..but I don't suggest it..much better juices out there. Battery life will be limited, but if you are a very light smoker, this might be a good solution. Something to look at and consider anyway.

Welcome! I also am brand new at vaping. This forum really helped me decide what to go with. I am Canadian so I can't help you with links on where to buy, but I am sure someone here can steer you in the right direction. I got the 510 kit. I had my very first vaping experience today, and I will tell you, the 510 I got couldn't have gone better! I am so in love with it!!! My suggestion to you is, if you are at home on the computer alot, get a passthrough, so you can hook it right up to your usb. I also got the personal charger case so that I can have that on me when I leave the house, it charges your battery for you and doesn't have to be plugged in once it is charged! you just charge the personal charger case at home, then unplug it, and put a battery in it and it will charge the battery! I also got the wall charger too. Heck I got everything really. Because I was a heavy smoker of a pack a day. I seriously have no desire for an analog anymore in just a few hits from this baby!!! Good luck in your search and I hope you find what you are looking for!!

Does your 501 have the button or is it automatic? Smoking only one or two a day I dont think I will go the passthrough route (I really only smoke when I am out drinking). I have looked for an automatic battery 501 with no luck. So far it looks like either the Nuvo or No. 7. Both look pretty real (surprised how hard it is to find normal cigarette colors!!)

My advice is to go with an 808. The two-piece design is incredibly convenient, has a ton of pre-filled flavored cartos, and the battery life is quite good...especially with the XLs. Vapor production is more than sufficient for a first-time vaper. I use a VaporKing from http://www.vaporforlife.com have absolutely no complaints. I have autos and manuals too. The autos are no-fuss, no-muss and work great. The manuals have a better hit though since they "pressurize" the cartomizer a bit when the atomizer fires by holding the button down. They actually help increase the vapor volume. I started with the autos but really like my manuals now Good luck and keep on vaping!

Seems like you've received enough suggestion to make a good decision. Just want to say congrats on trying to kick the analogs and glad to see another windy city vaper :)

I'm not much of an analog look-a-like kind of guy, but these have peaked my interest SOLELY for the awesome looking pcc. They are expensive though for what you get. MINI PCC STARTER (MAXX FUSION) is what I'm referring to Electronic Cigarette Starter Kits

Here's a look (I only watch this to see the PCC in action :p)

wish all the best :)
