Hello, I am new to this forum. I actually am not a cigarette smoker or vapor. My girlfriends mother is disabled (due to severe back problems) and can not work, and she had to move in with my girlfriend. Neither of us are smokers, and really don't like the smell of cigarettes. She was a smoker, but I introduced to E-Cigs, first through disposable brands (mostly Square Smoke) and now she is using the cheap "Green Smart Living" E-Cigs, however I feel that there is probably a better brand, and refills are $13 at the local tobacco shop, and I know I can find better deals online. I think that the battery is starting to die, she has been using the unit for about 1 month, the unit was $20 and came with two cartos. Unfortunately my girlfriend (and I) is stuck paying for her E-Cigs since her mother is unable to work.. money is running really tight. She didn't seem to be too picky with what brand she used, she got used to E-Cigs almost immediately and quit the analogs right away. I'm looking to find what will save me money in the long run. Since she is stuck at home, she really doesn't something that needs a long lasting battery, also she can probably refill her own since she has a ton of time.

I have read the beginners section of this site, but I wanted some opinions on what the most affordable option I have is. There are about 10 billion brands of E-Cigs and 100 sites I can order them off of, just don't know which one will fit best. I have been reading for a few days now, and tried avoiding making a thread like this (I know how obnoxious it can be when every new person makes a thread that says the same thing).

I'd suggest a Kgo. It's in the Fat Batt class and delivers the most voltage (cigarette-like hit) and battery life for the price. She'll get 2 ecigs in the kit. That should do her (except for juice and cartos) for 6 months or more.

KGO Vendors
Hoosier E Cig Supply use code 5off at checkout for discount. I put Hoosier first because he's got good KGO videos on his site.
BreezEsmokes
Dark City Vapor

She'll need some cartomizers and juice to go with her kit and a couple of drip tips and she's set. If she'll learn to use the atomizer in the kit she'll save a lot of money on cartomizers and it's a more pure, clean taste one you get the hang of it. You'll get lots of good advice here. Hope you have her vaping happier soon :)

You have an honorable request, no apologies are needed at all.

If her battery is truly starting to die, then you'll need to get her something else. For a person who is trying to stop smoking, she will need a backup plan anyhow. The last thing she needs is for the e-cig to stop working. It'll be back to the cigarettes I'm sure. The "Green Smart Living" battery in question has a "510" connection, and with that said, the cheapest option would be to buy a pack of these and a bottle of nicotine juice to refill it with; this will last exponentially longer and be of better quality than the refills. However, her battery is what's known as an "auto", meaning it turns on as she inhales, essentially mimicking a cigarette drag. This is problematic because if the nicotine juice were to get into the hole, the battery would die.

If she is not is not averse to pressing a button vs. automatic, then a Riva 510 Carto Deluxe bundle would be great. It's $35 but you'll get everything she'll need: 2 batteries for backup, 5 cartos to start her off, a charger, etc. It doesn't sound like she's too particular about the generic e-cig she's using now, so this will be an amazing upgrade experience for her.

Of course, this is assuming she's okay with "smoking" on something that looks nothing like a cigarette. I'm sure others can chime in with both small profile e-cigs & even better automatic solutions.

This is a very noble post from you, we're here to help.

I'd suggest a Kgo.

Totally forgot about the kGo. That's in the same class as the Riva I mentioned, & Boodle is right, it does have a better voltage rating than the Riva. I also forgot that the kGo comes with 5 prefilled carts, which will save you even more money initially.

Good lookin' out Boodle.

Parkes Vaping is a vendor that I'm currently a huge fan off. I've tried many of their juices and they burn clean, don't muck up the cartos, and taste great. They also have a nice "throat hit" which I think mom would appreciate being a cigarette smoker. The options can be a little overwhelming when ordering juice, but shoot for about 80% PG / 20% VG (that's most of the make up of the liquid, & is about where most recommend for a good "hit", taste, and decent vapor production) and check what nicotine content she's using now. 12-18mg is what most of these generic kits offer, so pick the one that she's using now to ensure her cravings for a cigarette don't return.

There are many other sites that get stellar reviews. Some I can vouch for personally:
Alien Visions E-Juice
Ms T's Bakery Essentials
KickBassVapor E-Liquid
VaporsEtc
PinkSpot

I like Parkes because they have ridiculously great prices, the juice is as tasty as I've ever tried, and Bill (Bill_R if you feel like PM'ing him with questions) gives amazing, amazing, amazing customer service.

somewhere!
She's home most of the time, I'm guessing, so I would get an ego passthrough, an outlet-> USB converter, some atomizers, and some liquid (examples of which brian has posted). The great thing about the eGo passthrough is that it includes a battery, so she can simply unplug it and take it with her if she goes out, and be good to go for 6+ hours. This minimizes parts -- no charger needed, probably no other spare batteries, and it means when she's plugged in that she'll get always get a good hit.

The cheapest way to go would probably be to get the ego carto kit that brianishiwa mentioned. The kgo has longer lasting batteries, and probably better voltage, that's true. But the Riva carto kit is pretty complete. All you'll need is some juice. I'd probably get juice somewhere else.

You can get pretty inexpensive juice at Blue Mist Vaping

Max's recommendation is freakin' brilliant as well. The dynamics of a pass-through may prove a boon for her vaping experience. I didn't even think of that.

I just checked their site, they have some amazing prices! 30ml for $10?! That'll help you save a lot on consumables.

Thanks for all the recommendations guys. I'm a little confused about how the pass through ego works vs a normal one. If possibly, about how many packs would a 30ml bottle be equal to?

Edit: Did a little investagation.. about 20 drops in one ml.. so about 600 in a whole bottle..

A pass-through means that you can charge it while using it. Other battery solutions require that your screw them into the charger and are unusable during the charging cycle, versus a pass-through typically plugs into the bottom so you can still vape it. Useful if she's on the computer a lot as well, though computer ports don't supply much voltage and charging will be longer.

Having two batteries in the kits that have been mentioned of course is the other option. Use one while charging the other.

If she's been using the cheapo pv, the ego is going to knock her socks off!

BTW, tell her congrats on giving up the cigs, and she should join the forum! The support here is great!

Haha, I'm afraid of that. We're trying to get her to quit or at least spend less money! I'm afraid she might like it too much. We actually were buying her cigarettes she didn't care for because she would smoke less.

LOL. After my last failed quit attempt before I started vaping I punished myself by smoking cigarettes I hated for a while. I smoked Virginia Slims and went to Pall Malls. OMG they were awful (no offense ex-Pall Mall lovers). But smoke them I did as your GF's mom did prolly cursing you along the way. Bless her heart. Glad she's vaping. Tastes much better :)

Haha, She actually really likes the flavor of vaping, and already doesn't really like the taste of cigarettes anymore.. She said they tasted worse and worse..

I don't recommend Alien Visions for cartomizers - it's 100% VG and very thick. I have good luck with thinner juices in Boge cartos, like 80PG/20VG or less VG.

And if you get a Riva 510 - if you get the carto deluxe kit and it doesn't come with an atomizer, I would add a 510 atomizer and a 510 drip tip to the order and use the atomizer+drip tip to test juices (instead of wasting a cartomizer trying a juice - some go to the troule of trying to wash and dry cartomizers but I don't. I test the juices first. I only put juices I like in cartomizers and I keep the carto damp with juice to get up to 10 days use out of each.

I also use a simple 510 drip tip on the cartomizer instead of the end cap so it's easy to pull that out to check the stuffing and/or add juice. The fancy scrylic drip tips won't fit but the simple black delrin and clear colored plastic drip tips do fit in Boge cartomizers.

BlueMist sells large bottles. And they also have HUGE sales. But I'd order a small one first to see if she likes it, then order a bigger bottle. Lots of people slowly reduce the nicotine level of their juice. And even if she's vaping a lot, many people say you absorb about 30% of the nicotine in juice.

Many people her make their own juice when they've been vaping for awhile for a fraction of the cost. We have a whole Do It Yourself section with lots of great info that she should read.
